A new video from Ram Brazil confirms the Rampage name.
It’s strongly rumoured to use a petrol-powered turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine.
The Rampage is expected to be built with a focus on the Brazilian market.
The Rampage is confirmed for Brazil, but its future for other markets isn’t locked in.
Ram Brazil, the South American-based arm for the renowned pick-up truck brand, has officially pulled the covers off its new mid-size ute and confirmed its name – the Rampage.
The mid-sized ute has been teased for the last few weeks, with the brand already having revealed details like its digital instrument panel, large multimedia screen and a hint it will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
But a new video from Ram Brazil confirms the Rampage name as well as the design of the truck with several photos of the seemingly Toyota HiLux or Ford Ranger-sized ute.
It’s strongly rumoured to use the same petrol-powered turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that is available in the Wrangler in the US, though its drivetrain and specifications, if it does come to Australia, aren’t yet clear.
In the US-spec Wrangler, outputs reach 201kW/400Nm, but is unknown if there will be any tweaks in its Rampage application.
The Rampage is expected to be built with a focus on the Brazilian market, with all of its marketing so far having been presented in Portuguese.
It’s possible that instead of the Rampage, Australia will receive a petrol version of the Dakota. (Image: Thanos Pappas)It’s one of at least two new utes coming from the US brand, with another similarly-sized ute called the Dakota – an EV already shown to dealers – also in development.
Ram global CEO Mike Koval has previously told CarsGuide a new mid-size ute will hopefully come to Australia.
Because of this, it’s possible that instead of the Rampage, Australia will receive a petrol version of the Dakota.

“I don’t want to limit my opportunities,” Koval said. “I would be doing the team a disservice if I didn’t [offer ICE]. I want to be able to sell it in every market around the world.”
The confirmation of the Rampage comes as Ram Australia locks in another record month for sales in May, shifting 766 pick-ups across Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500s and beating main rival Chevrolet’s Silverado, which shifted just 314 units.
A smaller ute to rival the ever-popular HiLux and Ranger would certainly help boost Ram’s growth in Australia. Stay tuned.
