Honda, the Japanese auto major, has set the stage to unveil its all-new Elevate SUV in India tomorrow, 6 June, 2023. Ahead of the world premiere, the carmaker has already released a few teasers of the SUV. It has also been spotted testing several times in India and overseas.
The new Honda Elevate SUV will soon enter India’s one of the most sought-after segments, the compact SUV segment. It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and MG Astor. Out of them, the Creta, Seltos, and Grand Vitara are the best-selling SUVs. To compete against such giants, Honda will have to price the Elevate SUV competitively and also make it stand out in terms of design, features, and engine options. Not to mention, it will also face and indirect competition from Mahindra’s XUV700 and Scorpio.
New Honda Elevate SUV: Design
The upcoming Honda Elevate is likely to feature a somewhat imposing stance. As seen in some of the spy pictures, the SUV will get an upright front end. The slim LED headlamps, a large grille, body cladding, a raised bonnet, and probably LED taillights with a full-length light bar are likely to dominate its overall design.
New Honda Elevate SUV: Interior
To make the interior feel roomy, the SUV may get a dual-tone cabin – a combination of light and dark shades. Further, it is likely to come with ventilated seats, a sizable touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, artificial leather or leather upholstery, electronic parking brake, rear air con vents with blower control, front and rear arm rests, auto-dimming IRVM, and USB fast charging ports.
New Honda Elevate SUV: Features
Expect Honda to offer a bunch of features, such as six airbags, hill hold and descent control systems, ESP, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, connected car features, smartwatch connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 360deg camera, among others.
New Honda Elevate SUV: Engine and transmission
Honda’s upcoming Elevate SUV may borrow the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol unit from the Honda City. The former makes 121PS and 145Nm of torque, while the latter produces 126PS and 253Nm of torque. Transmission options could include a six-speed manual, a CVT automatic, and an e-CVT unit. The City returns a claimed mileage of 17.8kmpl with MT and 18.4kmpl with AT. Whereas, the City e:HEV has a fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl.
