Electric vehicles have gained significant popularity over the last 24 months. For much of this time it was nearly impossible to get behind the wheel of one without waiting months on end.
Now there are signs of EV wait times coming down considerably and various popular models are available right away. Today we look at some of these vehicles that can be had without waiting months on end.
Tesla Model 3
Yes, Australia’s best-selling electric car is readily available in most states and territories of Australia. There are dozens of Tesla Model 3 electric sedans available for immediate delivery through Tesla’s local inventory.
There are models available in most colour. Powertrain-wise, the most popular single-motor RWD variant is also in stock.

This variant is Tesla’s most affordable EV that’s sold in Australia. It is also eligible for subsidies in various states and territories as it meets the EV incentive price cap set across various jurisdictions.
There are also dual-motor equipped Long Range and Performance models also available which will generally remain in stock a bit longer than the popular RWD model.
Polestar 2
Polestar 2 has been one of the most popular electric sedans since deliveries began nearly 12 months ago. After various supply chain issues in 2022, this year has started off quite well for the brand with 336 sales so far. Now various variants of the popular sedan are available in the coming weeks.
Many of these examples are 2023-built vehicles and are Long range variants. Both single and dual-motor examples can be had by May 2023.

Polestar is gaining popularity across the world with many buyers looking at the brand when considering an all-electric sedan. This is represented in the sales so far.
Having these available in the coming weeks makes it easier to get behind the wheel of one fairly quickly compared to the long wait times some buyers faced last year.
Hyundai Ioniq 6
Continuing on the electric-sedan theme, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the latest entrant in the Australian EV market. After officially being made available for buyers in February, various variants are still available with shorter wait times.

These are available in limited colours but should be delivered in the coming months if it still has the available tag in the ordering configurator. Hyundai originally said that the vehicles will be delivered within 3 months of ordering as part of its orders opening in February.
With it being one of the most aerodynamic sedans on the market, it is sure to turn heads. With shorter delivery times for various Ioniq 6 models, it is a good time to consider one.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most popular electric models to hit Australia. Given its SUV vibes and unique styling, it goes in minutes everytime there has been a drop. This time around, it seems various high-end variants are still available for delivery within weeks.

This has been previously unheard of given the rush for customers to order one. The Driven spotted Epiq variants available on Hyundai’s configurator. These will be ready for delivery within weeks for anyone that missed out on the last couple of drops.
All in all, it’s a good time to explore the availability of EVs. That’s on the back of changing economic times and rising interest rates.
With a reduction in wait times for electric vehicles, it’s another barrier that’s starting to come down for EV ownership in Australia. We look forward to keeping an eye out for any other models that become available – especially the more affordable ones.
