- How reliable is the Toyota Corolla Cross?
Toyota has a strong reputation for creating reliable vehicles. However, if you remain sceptical about the Toyota Corolla Cross, we find out how reliable the model is based on consumer surveys conducted globally.
Many automotive manufacturers have introduced their own interpretation of what a crossover should be and, locally, it is clear which the consumer wants the most based on the sales figures. The Toyota Corolla Cross is one of those models whose recipe seems to resonate with a large portion of crossover buyers.
The Japanese crossover, which was first introduced locally late in 2021, comes in four trim levels and can be had with either a naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol engine or a hybrid configuration of that same, 1.8-litre petrol motor. But before you get an Instant Offer on your car and start your search for a new or used Toyota Corolla Cross model on AutoTrader, you might want to know more about the crossover’s reliability and we will tell you everything we think you should know below.
Service plan and warranty
In order for any vehicle to perform as it should, it is important to service and maintain the car as it is being used over its lifecycle. Included in the purchase price of the Toyota Corolla Cross is a 6-services / 90 000 km service plan and the option of purchasing extended service plans are also available through Toyota dealerships. Also included in the purchase price is a 3-year / 100 000 km warranty on the car and hybrid models benefit from an 8-year warranty on the battery.
Reliability
In a survey conducted by J.D. Power, owners of the Toyota Corolla Cross model were asked to rate many different aspects of the model, including dealership experience, driving experience and even the resale experience. Another area on which the survey focuses is quality and reliability.
From the feedback provided by thousands of verified owners of the 2022 model year Toyota Corolla Cross, the overall rating for the level of defects and faults as well as the build quality ranging from the electronics all the way through to the power- and drivetrain systems, was 82 out of a possible 100. The higher the rating, the better the quality and the fewer malfunctions experienced by the owners.
Verdict
Based on this rating of 82 / 100, it is safe to say that the Toyota Corolla Cross is quite reliable as very few cars ever come close to the 90-point mark. However, it is important to note that the owner’s driving style, road conditions and even the climate play a big role in how well the model will perform. It is also important to note that a vehicle that is maintained and serviced regularly will remain reliable for longer.
