Two V8 Supercars drivers who were said to have gotten into a heated clash that turned physical at the sport’s end-of-season black-tie gala dinner have both denied anything inappropriate happened.
The Supercars community came together last Monday night to celebrate their season with the annual Gala Awards and dinner at Adelaide Oval.
V8 Supercars star Scott Pye (pictured) maintains he didn’t get into a physical altercation with fellow star Jake Kostecki at the sport’s end-of-season dinner last week
It was claimed Kostecki (pictured) and Pye allegedly started trading insults before becoming involved in a physical exchange late in the evening
It was claimed that drivers Jake Kostecki and Scott Pye allegedly started trading insults before becoming involved in a physical exchange late in the evening.
‘It looked like they’d had a few to drink,’ one person told News Corp.
The publication spoke to Pye about it afterwards and he denied that it occurred, saying: ‘Nothing happened. There was no altercation.’
Daily Mail Australia reached out to Kostecki for comment and he also denied any fight took place.
‘No, sorry, I just read the title of the story online and it says with Scott Pye but that’s all fake rumours,’ said Kostecki.

‘I don’t know where it came from, I’ve been mates with Scott and nothing happened.’
Pye notched his first V8 Supercars victory in 2018 at Albert Park and finished seventh in the championship that year. He’s currently with Team 18.
Kostecki is with Tickford Racing and has just 18 starts to his name in the V8 Supercars competition, coming 21st in the drivers championship in 2022.
Earlier in the evening at the black-tie dinner, veteran driver Lee Holdsworth won the Barry Sheene Medal for ‘best and fairest’ in his final year of full-time racing.
‘This is pretty special. I certainly didn’t expect this,’ he said.

‘I am super proud. This is one of the best accolades you could ever get and Barry was an absolute idol to me.
‘The end of my career could not have ended on a better note. I have enjoyed every minute of it and there are too many people to thank over my journey in the sport.’
