Remember Asimo? ceased development of the humanoid robot back in 2018. But we now have a new humanoid robot to talk about, that is the Xiaomi CyberOne. Cyberone is the company’s first humanoid robot and the latest addition to Xiaomi’s growing Cyber series after the quadruped robot Cyberdog.
Launched at Xiaomi’s new product launch event in Beijing, CyberOne is fitted with advanced arms and legs, supports bipedal-motion posture balancing, and reaches peak torque of up to 300 Nm.
CyberOne stands 177 cm tall and weighs 52 kg, while its arm span is 168 cm. The humanoid robot is the most mechanically complex invention that Xiaomi has ever created as it requires more powerful motors, more degrees of freedom, and complex humanoid biped control algorithms.
On top of that, CyberOne is capable of holding up to 1.5 kg in weight with a single hand and programming by demonstration.
But other than movements, CyberOne is also built with a self-developed MiAI environment semantics recognition engine and a MiAI vocal emotion identification engine.
These allow CyberOne to recognise up to 85 types of environmental sounds and 45 classifications of human emotions. In other words, think of CyberOne as the real-live skinny Baymax.
Like Honda's Asimo, CyberOne is not a commercial product so it is not for sale. Instead, the technology demonstrated in CyberOne will be incorporated in other Xiaomi products in the future and also pave the way for Xiaomi to create new technology breakthroughs in different fields.
