Our inaugural WapCar Auto Show Exhibition takes place this weekend (1-3 July 2022, at Pavilion Bukit Jalil) and among the many, many things to expect then, you’ll also get the exclusive chance to view the 2022 as it appears in front of the Malaysian public for the first time.
The EV6 GT-Line AWD – the sole variant available here – will join the display stands alongside the , as well as other models from Mazda, Peugeot, and Mercedes-Benz.
And what a treat it would be to look at. Though the EV6 shares underpinnings with the blocky , Kia’s visual treatments on its first all-electric car is punctuated by swoopy lines, imbued with digitalisation inside and out.
Doesn’t matter if you’re a carspotter or just someone who likes cool cars; this is certainly one for the ‘gram.
Step into it too to feel the half suede-synthetic leather, hear the Meridian 14-speaker setup, and ogle at the curvy interior with its expansive infotainment and digital instrument panel.
Don’t forget to check out the nifty vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature too, which allows users to plug electrical devices into the car and power them via the car’s high voltage battery.
A full-on camping trip with all the kettles, lights, and small fridges? Bring it on.
That’s nice and all, but the real draw to the EV6 is the technology under the skin. If you’re in the market for an electric vehicle in Malaysia then this offers one of the best range for the money: 506 km on a full charge, based on the WLTP test cycle.
The 77.4 kWh water-cooled high voltage battery packs has 4.8 kWh more power here than in the Ioniq 5, sending 325 PS to all four wheels. 0-100 km/h is sorted in 5.2 seconds, and it has a top speed of 185 km/h.
Charging is equally quick too. There’s Type 2 AC charging and CCS2 DC fast charging. Coupled with its impressive dual 400 V / 800 V charging architecture, you can juice up the EV6 from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
These points make it the only EV in Malaysia to offer such charging capabilities and above 500 km of range for below RM 400,000. Well cheaper than that actually; the 2022 Kia EV6 sells for RM 300,668 in Malaysia.
And for that money you get a 5-year / 150,000 km warranty, while the battery is covered by a 7-year / 150,000 km package.
Servicing your EV6 can be done at 3 Kia service centres, one each in Glenmarie, Penang, and Johor Bahru. This will increase in tandem with sales, but rest assured that other Kia dealers will still be able to provide roadside assistance too.
The exhibition will take place at the outdoor piazza of Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and visitors are encouraged to park at Entrance C
