Xpeng P7+ productionImage: XpengSince September 2025, Xpeng has been manufacturing its electric SUVs, the G6 and G9 at Magna Steyr, in Graz, Poland. Earlier this year, the battery-electric saloon P7+ was also added to the production line. The models assembled in Austria are intended for the European market. Local production within the EU is becoming increasingly important for Chinese manufacturers, as the EU imposes high tariffs on imports of electric vehicles from China—though these can now be avoided through individual minimum price agreements. On LinkedIn, Brian Gu, Vice Chairman of Xpeng, recently shared insights from his participation in a vehicle production conference hosted by Magna in Graz. In his post, he stated: “For XPENG, local manufacturing is a key part of our long-term commitment to Europe. With the P7+ recently rolling off Magna’s production line in Graz, Austria, and our collaboration now expanding to a fourth vehicle program, it is exciting to continue building on this momentum.”Shortly afterwards, Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng confirmed on LinkedIn: “Glad to see our strong partnership with Magna continue to grow. From the G6 and G9 to the recently rolled-off-line P7+, and soon our 4TH model to be produced in Graz, we stay the course to localize production in Europe.”However, it remains unclear which model this will be. One possibility is the battery-electric flagship van, the X9, which has recently become available for order in Germany from €77,600 (DE) and is set to be delivered in the country this month. The X9 features an 800-volt system, offers seven seats, and is designed to provide exceptional comfort.Another possibility is that a model from Xpeng’s Mona series could be produced in Graz. The first vehicle in this range, developed in collaboration with ride-hailing service Didi, was the Mona M03, a relatively affordable battery-electric saloon launched in China two years ago. However, this model is not yet available in Europe. Xpeng has already indicated plans to bring the Mona series to the continent.Alternatively, the upcoming Mona L03 – a compact coupé-SUV that adopts the design language of the M03 – could mark the European debut of the Mona series. In May, Xpeng’s European CEO, Elvis Cheng, stated at the Financial Times’ Future of the Car Summit in London that Xpeng would introduce the Mona series to the European market in July during an event in Munich, featuring the L03. During the event, Cheng also noted that the company is exploring the expansion of its European production with additional potential partners, such as Volkswagen, a shareholder in Xpeng.linkedin.com, eletric-vehicles.com, eletric-vehicles.com (Mona series)
