New high-end version: Xiaomi YU7 GTImage: XiaomiFollowing the launch of the YU7 in summer 2025, Xiaomi’s second vehicle model after the battery-electric saloon SU7, the standard YU7 currently starts at 253,500 yuan (approximately £32,000) in China. Xiaomi is now introducing the new True Standard Edition at a lower price tier, starting at 233,500 yuan (approximately 29,500 euros). This new entry-level version is designed to help Xiaomi compete more effectively with Tesla’s Model Y. While the YU7 has already achieved strong sales, with 232,000 units delivered within the first ten months of its market launch, it has occasionally trailed behind the Model Y in terms of monthly new registrations in China. Although the YU7 was recently priced 10,000 yuan lower than the Model Y, this price difference was apparently not enough to close the gap.Xiaomi aims to widen the price gap to 30,000 yuan with the new True Standard Edition. The company says customers pay around 3,800 euros less than for the Tesla Model Y while receiving significantly more value, including a CLTC range of 643 kilometres—50 kilometres more than Tesla’s rival model. The rear-wheel-drive variant delivers 235 kW and uses a 73 kWh LFP battery from CATL. Xiaomi also reduced the kerb weight to 2.2 tonnes, making the new entry-level version 115 kilograms lighter than the previous standard model at 2.315 tonnes.Xiaomi has meanwhile revised and upgraded the former standard version, which it now sells as the Long Range Edition with a CLTC range of 835 kilometres.YU7 GT with a top speed of 300 km/hAt the top end of the range, Xiaomi is introducing the YU7 GT. The GT designation comes from the Italian term ‘Gran Turismo.’ Prices for the flagship model start at 389,900 yuan, or more than 49,000 euros. The YU7 GT uses Xiaomi’s latest HyperEngine V8s EVO high-performance powertrain, which reaches a maximum motor speed of 28,000 rpm. Combined with dual motors on the front and rear axles, the system delivers 1,003 hp, or around 738 kW. Xiaomi says the model accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 2.92 seconds and reaches a top speed of 300 km/h.
