what the heck is subaru s new 420 hp suv If you thought Subaru having three all-electric SUVs to go with the brand's four gas-powered SUVs wasn't enough, it appears the manufacturer agrees with you. According to a press release sent today, an all-new, all-electric SUV with 420 hp is going to debut next week at the New York Auto Show. All Subaru sent us the photo posted above and the blurb below: "Power up your next family adventure with 420 horsepower and legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Come see the all-new, all-electric SUV from Subaru at the 2026 New York International Auto Show on April 1 or at Subaru.com" These 10 Car Brands Might Let You Down what the heck is subaru s new 420 hp suv AutoGuide's Take Looking at the profile of the silhouetted vehicle in the image, the vehicle in question could be one of two things. It could be an actual all-new vehicle, or maybe a new variant of an existing model. Most likely, this will be a twin of the recently announced all-electric Toyota Highlander. The Subaru Ascent three-row SUV is getting long in the tooth, and it's the only gas-powered SUV in the brand's lineup without an all-electric counterpart. Oddly, though, the new Highlander EV doesn't have anywhere near 420 hp. In fact, even the Lexus RZ, the most powerful vehicle currently on the shared Toyota/Lexus/Subaru EV platform, doesn't even have 420 hp. On the other hand, the profile looks a lot like the Trailseeker, and currently, there is no upgraded performance version of that model. No GT like the Uncharted or XT like the Solterra. A range-topping 420 hp variant could make sense. Or, maybe more sense is a 420 hp Wilderness version of the Trailseeker. Whatever this new vehicle is, we won't have to wait long to find out. 2026 Ford F-150 Raptor: All the Details
