Image Credit: Subaru.Subaru is celebrating two milestones in the United States with a pair of limited-production specials aimed squarely at enthusiasts. Neither gets additional horsepower, but both come exclusively with six-speed manual transmissions and a collection of performance upgrades. The 2027 WRX GD25 marks 25 years since the WRX arrived in the U.S., while the 2027 BRZ ZC15 celebrates 15 years of Subaru's rear-wheel-drive sports car. Their unusual names reference the chassis codes associated with the original U.S.-market generations.Production will be extremely limited. Subaru plans just 350 examples of the WRX GD25 and 300 of the BRZ ZC15, with reservations opening in 2026.Subaru unveiled both cars at Boxerfest 2026 in York, Pennsylvania. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but the automaker says additional specifications and prices will be revealed closer to their respective launches. The WRX GD25 Looks Ready For A Rally StageImage Credit: Subaru. There was really only one sensible color combination for an anniversary WRX. The GD25 comes exclusively in World Rally Blue over gold-painted 19-inch wheels, with gold Brembo brake calipers completing the familiar Subaru performance look. Its standout feature is much less subtle. Subaru has fitted a dry-carbon-fiber swan-neck rear wing from STI, the same component used on Travis Pastrana's WRX ARA25L rally car.Changes aren't purely cosmetic, either. The GD25 receives a performance-tuned suspension with stiffer springs and revised damping, Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, uprated Brembo brakes and a flexible strut-tower bar under the hood.Power is unchanged, with the familiar turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer four pumping out 271 horsepower to all four wheels. The only transmission is a six-speed manual equipped with an STI short shifter.Inside, Subaru adds Recaro performance seats with black Ultrasuede inserts and red stitching, along with an STI shift knob. Deliveries are scheduled for summer 2027.The BRZ ZC15 Takes A Different ApproachThe BRZ's anniversary treatment is less rally-inspired but equally distinctive. Subaru paints the ZC15 exclusively in Ceramic White and pairs it with matte-bronze wheels, gold-painted Brembo calipers, and bronze graphics along the lower body. That combination deliberately references the white-and-bronze treatment offered on the 2020 BRZ tS. A black decklid spoiler and flexible V-bar underneath the hood round out the exterior and chassis changes. The naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer four remains untouched at 228 horsepower. As with the GD25, there is no automatic option available — every ZC15 sends its power through a six-speed manual, although naturally the BRZ remains rear-wheel drive.Inside, there are black leather-appointed seats with Bordeaux red inserts unique to the ZC15. An STI aluminum-and-leather short shifter sits alongside a special ZC15 anniversary plaque. No Extra Power, No AutomaticSubaru could have chased bigger horsepower figures for these anniversary cars, but the GD25 and ZC15 instead focus on chassis hardware, appearance, and driver involvement. Making both models manual-only reinforces exactly which customers the company expects to buy them. The numbers also guarantee rarity. With only 650 cars combined, neither anniversary edition will be particularly easy to find once deliveries begin. The BRZ ZC15 arrives first in early 2027, followed by the WRX GD25 that summer. Subaru hasn't revived the WRX STI in the process, but a World Rally Blue WRX with gold wheels, a manual gearbox, and an enormous carbon wing certainly knows how to push the right nostalgic buttons. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
