On May 27, SAIC Motor’s MG brand officially launched the new MG 4X compact pure-electric SUV in China. MG 4X pricing and limited-time offers The new model is available in four variants, with limited-time subsidized prices ranging from RMB 92,800 ($13,670) to RMB 109,800 ($16,180), covering different battery range and intelligent driving configurations. In terms of exterior design, the MG 4X adopts a typical EV-style closed front fascia paired with MG’s illuminated logo. A full-width light bar connects with sharp split-type headlamps. Along the side profile, the body lines extend smoothly from the front fenders to the rear, complemented by black wheel arch cladding and side skirts, while retaining traditional pull-type door handles. MG 4X At the rear, the vehicle features a full-width LED taillight design, with the light strip extending into the body lines. The MG logo is positioned at the center of the tailgate. The MG 4X measures 4,500 mm in length, 1,849 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm, placing it close to the dimensions of some A+ segment SUVs. Inside the cabin, the MG 4X comes equipped with a flat-bottom dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel and an electronic column shifter. Even the entry-level version includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central infotainment display. Rear view of MG 4X The infotainment system integrates ByteDance’s Doubao large-language-model ecosystem, supporting four-zone voice interaction. It is also compatible with mainstream smartphone connectivity protocols including CarPlay, HiCar and Carlink, while additionally integrating OPPO’s in-car ecosystem. For intelligent driving, the MG 4X is equipped with a driver-assistance system jointly developed with Horizon Robotics. The system uses both the J3 chip and the more advanced J6E chip, the latter supporting highway Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and automated parking functions. Interior view of MG 4X In terms of powertrain, the vehicle offers a 53.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack and a 64.2 kWh manganese-based semi-solid-state lithium battery pack, delivering CLTC-rated ranges of 510 km and 610 km respectively. Notably, semi-solid-state battery technology had previously been mostly reserved for higher-end vehicles, but is now beginning to enter the RMB 100,000 ($14,710) price segment, reflecting a broader downward expansion of advanced battery technologies into the mass market. From a market positioning perspective, the MG 4X targets China’s highly competitive RMB 100,000 ($14,710) electric SUV segment, where it will compete against models such as the BYD Yuan Plus (Atto 3), Geely Galaxy E5 and Leapmotor B10.
