Dodge adds a ninth exterior color to the 2027 Durango lineup. After Dark is a deep metallic blue that costs an extra $595. The new shade is available across every HEMI-powered Durango. There are plenty of ways to remind buyers that an aging vehicle is still around. Dodge has settled on horsepower, special editions, and an increasingly deep paint catalog. Its latest addition is called After Dark, and despite sounding like a late-night Cinemax special, it’s actually a rather handsome shade of metallic blue. The new color joins the 2027 Dodge Durango lineup as its ninth available exterior finish. Dodge describes After Dark as a deep blue that changes character depending on the lighting, showing brighter metallic highlights in direct sunlight before looking considerably darker once the sun disappears. Judging from Dodge’s photos, that’s not entirely marketing fluff. Under bright light, there’s quite a bit of blue and metallic sparkle visible in the paint. After Dark and new options like tinted dual stripes give our customers even more ways to build a Dodge with attitude, make it unmistakably their own and stand apart from everything else on the road.” After Dark costs $595 and is available to order now across the entire HEMI-powered 2027 Durango range. That includes the 360 hp (268 kW) Durango GT HEMI AWD, 475 hp (354 kW) R/T 392, and the decidedly less subtle 710 hp (529 kW) SRT Hellcat and Hellcat Jailbreak. Of course, fresh paint can’t disguise the Durango’s age. The current generation traces its bones all the way back to the 2011 model year, making it ancient by modern SUV standards. Despite being 16 years in production, this Dodge remains a very capable family hauler. It oozes personality, can tow up to 8,700 lbs (3,946 kg), and doesn’t require drivers to navigate a screen that spans from one A-pillar to the other. There are plenty of trade-offs, but now at least they’re available in one more desirable paint color. Photos: Dodge
