Company executives said expanding production capacity is now the immediate priority before the model’s August launch, reports Y-Auto. Pre-sales began on July 29 with prices ranging from 125,900 yuan (18,600 USD) to 168,900 yuan (24,500 USD). The MG 07 is scheduled to officially launch in August 2026, with customer deliveries expected during the third quarter. The reported figure represents refundable reservations placed before official market entry. These reservations indicate early consumer interest but do not represent completed sales, non-refundable confirmed orders, or customer deliveries. The reservation update was presented during a July 31 executive briefing covering production planning, vehicle engineering, and market positioning. MG Brand General Manager Chen Cui said the company’s current focus is on increasing production capacity rather than tracking reservation numbers. According to MG data, the MG 07 received twice as many reservations in its first 50 minutes of pre-sales as the MG4 did in its first three hours. SAIC Passenger Vehicle Vice General Manager Zhang Liang, whose division oversees the MG brand in China, said the company aims for the MG 07 to become China’s best-selling model in the four-door coupe segment, positioning it against vehicles such as the Xiaomi SU7 and Xpeng Mona M03. Xiaomi delivered 80,496 SU7 sedans during the first half of 2026, according to the company’s published delivery figures. Zhang’s comments represent SAIC’s stated commercial objective and have not been independently verified. MG’s domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 20,122 units in June 2026, up 14.5% month on month and 187.1% year on year, according to China EV DataTracker data. The brand held a 1.2% share of China’s passenger vehicle market during the month. Two powertrain configurations The MG 07 is built on SAIC’s Nebula modular platform and uses rear-wheel drive across two available powertrain versions. The 400 V variant combines a 176 kW (239 hp) electric motor with a 67 kWh semi-solid-state battery. MG lists a CLTC driving range of 610-650 km for this configuration. The 800 V variant uses a 235 kW (320 hp) rear motor and a CATL ternary lithium battery. MG lists a maximum CLTC range of 845 km and 5C charging capability for this version. The 845 km figure applies only to the 800 V variant. SAIC MG and Momenta executives discussed the MG 07’s production plans, vehicle development, and market positioning during an executive briefing. Credit: Y-Auto Vehicle architecture and cabin packaging The MG 07 measures 4,886 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,478 mm high, with a 2,825 mm wheelbase. It uses a five-door liftback body style. The vehicle incorporates an integrated 18-in-1 electric drive assembly combining the motor, inverter, reduction gearbox, and power distribution components into a single unit. Zhang said the integrated system is part of SAIC’s component-sharing and supplier coordination strategy across multiple vehicle programs. The MG 07 uses an mCDC electromagnetic damping system with AI road preview. According to MG, the system scans road conditions between 15 and 150 meters ahead and adjusts suspension settings before the vehicle reaches changes in the road surface. Cabin equipment includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit processor, a 15.6-inch 2.5K central display, an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, a 168-litre front trunk, a 697-litre rear cargo compartment, and a 30-litre dual-zone refrigerator. Interior dimensions and driver assistance SAIC Chief Designer Shao Jingfeng said engineers adjusted the rear cabin layout to improve available passenger space within the constraints of a fastback body design and underfloor battery placement. According to Shao, the development team shortened the L115-2 dimension, which measures the distance between the rear occupant’s hip location and the rear wheel arch, by 20 mm compared with the previous platform layout. He said the resulting design provides 111 mm of rear knee room and a 5-degree rear backrest recline. Higher-grade MG 07 models are equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and Momenta’s R7 World Model driver assistance software. Momenta Global Chief Brand Strategic Officer Tuo Yue said the software underwent 38 calibration iterations for the MG 07 chassis. She also said the system improves emergency-avoidance performance and reduces emergency-braking response times by 100 to 150 milliseconds compared with previous software versions. Those figures were presented by Momenta during the briefing and have not been independently verified. The MG 07 is scheduled to officially enter the Chinese market in August 2026. Whether the reported reservation volume converts into confirmed orders will depend on final pricing, delivery timing, and buyers’ decisions once deliveries begin.
