You’ll know from our 2025 top 20 brands story that Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia sold 5,876 units last year to place 16th – the company has now announced that it has recorded a 177% year-on-year (YoY) sales growth (it was 18th in 2024 with 2,128 units). A lot less than the 331% YoY growth it posted in 2024, but an impressive achievement nonetheless. The biggest contributor was again the Haval H6 HEV – in the hybrid segment, the SUV ranked second and took 14.9% market share in 2025, giving the company as a whole third place in the hybrid segment with a 15.5% market share, it said in a release. Hi4 is the next chapter for GWM hybrids in Malaysia – there’s Hi4 (two-motor, two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission series/parallel system for family SUVs), Hi4-Z (two-motor, three-speed series/parallel system for general off-road models) and Hi4-T (non-decoupled 4WD, nine-speed hydraulic AT parallel system for hardcore off-road use on ladder-frame models).
