The WEY G9 is the second GWM’s model to be locally assembled at this facility, following the Haval H6 Hybrid. On January 29, Great Wall Motor Malaysia announced the official launch of the WEY G9 in the local market. Positioned as a luxury MPV, the WEY G9 is produced via local CKD assembly and is offered exclusively with GWM’s Hi4 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. The on-the-road price without insurance is RM 269,800 ($68,400). In Malaysia, GWM operates Haval, Tank, Ora and WEY through a unified dealer network, covering mass-market family SUVs, hardcore off-road models, battery electric vehicles and luxury offerings, respectively. The G9 is powered by GWM’s Hi4 intelligent hybrid system, pairing a turbocharged engine with dual electric motors. The system delivers a combined output of 442 horsepower and peak torque of 642 Nm, with an official 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.7 seconds. WEY G9 The vehicle is equipped with a 44.2 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery, providing a pure electric driving range of 170 km under the NEDC cycle. Combined range with a full tank and full charge exceeds 1,000 km. In terms of charging, the G9 supports 6.6 kW AC charging and up to 70 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in 26 minutes. It also offers vehicle-to-load functionality with output of up to 3.3 kW. In China, the WEY G9 is marketed as WEY Gaoshan. The model topped the monthly MPV sales chart in December 2025 with 10,558 units. With monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units for three consecutive months, the model also went on to claim the overall MPV sales crown for the July–December 2025 period.
