Genesis GV90 Has Coach Doors and a Crazy InteriorGenesisThe 2027 GV90 is the Genesis luxury brand's new flagship SUV.It comes with a 657-hp electric powertrain and claims a maximum driving range of 310 miles. Two versions will be available: the standard three-row model with conventional doors, and the GV90 Neolun with coach doors and an ultra-luxurious four-seat setup. If luxury is all about excess, then Genesis must be doing something right with its new flagship, the GV90. This new electric SUV is the largest, most powerful, and most luxurious Genesis model yet, and it will offer a ridiculous slate of available features and an ultra-luxury version called the GV90 Neolun with coach doors and a VIP rear-seat setup. Plus, its bold styling looks remarkably similar to the Neolun concept car that previewed this model, with stunning lighting elements and a distinctive shape. At a whopping 208 inches long, the GV90 is considerably larger than its closest rival, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, and it rides on what Genesis is calling the eMP platform. We assume this is related to the Hyundai Group's eGMP platform that underpins other electric models, but Genesis says this architecture is unique to the brand. The standard GV90 is a three-row model with conventionally opening rear doors, while the GV90 Neolun has a two-row, four-seat setup with a special coach-door setup that uses rear-opening rear doors with what Genesis calls a "hidden B-pillar" that means there's nothing obstructing the wide opening with both sets of doors open.GenesisThe Neolun is completely over the top, with standard 24-inch wheels, a veneer wood floor, unique upholstery choices, and front seats that can swivel 180 degrees to create a lounge setup when parked. The power-operated rear doors can open independently from the fronts thanks to a dual-motion hinge that slides the doors back before swinging them out. We expect this version to cost significantly more than the standard GV90, but we don't yet have any pricing details for the lineup.AdvertisementAdvertisementEvery GV90 has a dual-motor powertrain with a total output of 657 horsepower, and the 123.5-kWh battery pack is considerably larger than what you'll find in Hyundai's three-row EV, the Ioniq 9, which has a 110.3-kWh battery pack. Due to the GV90's considerable size and, presumably, its extra weight, its claimed range is not so impressive. Genesis expects it to go 310 miles on a charge, which trails behind the 400-plus-mile options from the likes of Rivian and Lucid. Quick charging should help, as Genesis says the GV90 can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 22 minutes when using a 350-kWh DC fast-charger.GenesisAn air-spring suspension is standard and offers height adjustment, and the GV90 also has rear-wheel steering to improve this behemoth's maneuverability. The GV90 Neolun will likely be considerably heavier than the standard model due to the structural reinforcements required to account for the wide door opening. All GV90s, though, have 5 millimeter thick acoustic glass that should make for a remarkably quiet cabin. The huge 23.6-inch OLED touchscreen will use the new Pleos Connect infotainment software, and the screen can rise a further 3.4 inches to expand the display when parked to watch videos. There's no start button, as Genesis has adopted the interface found in other EV brands in which the car powers up when you approach the car and open the door. Then, when you close the door, the shifter moves towards you, and once you press the brake pedal, the car is ready to drive.16 exterior color choices are available, including gloss and matte options, and the interior offers numerous unusual two-tone color schemes including indigo and green, brown and blue, and purple and beige. There will be a First Edition version of the GV90 Neolun available with special two-tone exterior color options, body color wheels, a wool cashmere interior, and special logos throughout.AdvertisementAdvertisementGenesis hasn't yet shared pricing, but we expect the standard three-row version with conventional doors to start in the low-$100,000 range. The GV90 Neolun, which is more equivalent to a Maybach ultra-luxury trim, will likely start at around $150,000. Genesis is entering new territory in more ways than one with the new GV90, and we're curious to hear more about this hedonistic new SUV as we approach its on-sale date. You Might Also LikeGift Guide: Best Ride-On Electric Cars for KidsFuture Cars Worth Waiting For: 2025–2029
