Xpeng’s flagship six-seat SUV GX has already begun open-road testing in Guangzhou, China. On February 6, Cailian Press reported that Xpeng’s upcoming flagship six-seat SUV, the Xpeng GX, will be equipped with four Turing chips, delivering 3,000 TOPS of effective local computing power and supporting L4-level autonomous driving. The vehicle has now entered the technical validation phase. On the same day, a camouflaged Xpeng test vehicle bearing “L4 Autonomous Driving Test” and “Please Keep Clear” markings was spotted undergoing real-world testing on open roads in Guangzhou, China. Xpeng GX under test One day earlier, Xpeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng officially announced the Xpeng GX, positioning it as an “AI-driven new luxury flagship six-seat SUV.” According to the company, the GX is built on Xpeng’s new SEPA 3.0 physical AI vehicle architecture and features an AI chassis solution incorporating steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering. Xpeng says this setup delivers greater agility and stability than conventional large-size SUVs. Xpeng GX under test On the software side, the GX will leverage Xpeng’s second-generation VLA model unveiled at its 2025 AI Day. Unlike the traditional “vision–language–action” pipeline, the new model removes the language translation layer and generates driving commands directly from visual signals, emphasizing end-to-end decision-making. The system is scheduled to be rolled out in March 2026. Robotaxi vehicles equipped with the same system have already passed third-party closed-site testing, providing real-world validation for its deployment. From a product planning perspective, the GX is not a standalone model. Supply chain sources indicate that Xpeng will launch four all-new SUVs this year It includes G01 (GX), G02, and the D02 and D03 models under the MONA series, covering segments from compact to full-size SUVs. Among them, the G02 is positioned against rivals such as the Li Auto L9 and AITO M9, while the MONA series is aimed at higher-volume segments. The GX sits at a critical intersection between Xpeng’s premium push and its scale expansion strategy. XPeng GX under test In terms of deliveries, Xpeng delivered 20,011 vehicles in January 2026, down 47% month-on-month and 34% year-on-year. Full-year deliveries in 2025 reached 429,445 units, up 126% YoY. Looking at the broader market, large three-row SUVs are emerging as a key growth segment in the high-end new energy vehicle space. Models such as the NIO ES8 and Zeekr 9X have established themselves above RMB 400,000 ($57,600) and have received solid market feedback, confirming underlying demand in this segment. Against Xpeng’s 2026 delivery target of 550,000 to 600,000 vehicles, the GX represents more than just an incremental product. It marks a critical step in Xpeng’s bid to enter the premium large three-row SUV market.
