The Chinese electric car that beat Porsche on its home track has just gotten even better. The Xiaomi SU7 still looks like it was designed by McLaren, and now the bits you can't see are even better than before. New motors deliver faster acceleration, a higher top speed, and even more range. In addition, a new electrical system gives it faster charging, and a new interior looks to make it all more enjoyable from behind the wheel. More Power, But Not For The Bonkers One Xiaomi This Porsche Taycan rival was already quick, but now it is even quicker. Even on the basic model, the motors are more powerful than before. You get 315 horsepower at the rear tires in the Standard trim, 21 more than before. Max trim moxes from 663 hp to 681, and the HyperEngine V6s Plus motors can now get the car to 60 miles per hour in three seconds flat.Xiaomi hasn't revealed new versions of the Ultra or Track models yet, but we expect them to come later. They're even more powerful, with a combined 1,526 hp and 1,305 pound-feet, so it's tough to find much room for improvement there.A new battery uses cell-to-body integrated technology instead of a separate pack. This gives up to 559 miles of range for the Pro, but at least 446 miles on the Standard car. Those are measured on the CLTC cycle, but they're still big figures.Xiaomi Fast charging speeds are even faster, and Xiaomi now claims 5.2C. That's how charge rates are commonly measured in China, with 1C meaning the battery can charge at one time its maximum capacity. A 100 kWh 1C battery can charge at 100kW, for example. 5.2 would mean 520 kW. This one (Xiaomi doesn't specify the size), can take on 415 miles in 15 minutes, or go from 10% to 80% in as little as 12.It takes more than power to beat the Taycan around the Nürburgring, and Xiaomi has updated the already exceptional chassis. Pro and Max models now offer a new Smart Chassis 2.0 system with adaptive dual-chamber air springs and adaptive shocks. It allows different levels of stiffness as well as ride height.New brakes include four-piston front calipers on all models. The Max has been tested to be able to handle 40 consecutive full braking stops from 62 mph without fade, and both Standard and Pro have larger pads than before. Computer settings let drivers limit power in different modes, deliver one-touch access to Boost and Launch Control, and will let the owner set flexible speed limits. Impressive Cabin Gets Even Better Xiaomi Xiaomi has made big upgrades inside, too. There's a new operating system behind the 16.1-inch screen with a new AI system. You can add a stabilized 4K camera below the rearview mirror, and there are 1/4-inch threaded mounts (like a camera tripod) for even more accessories.18-way adjustable front seats look incredibly comfortable. The passenger one will fold back for naps, and both rear seats go back as well. The fridge now has its own compressor for faster cooling, and there are two adorable NFC-enabled stuffies that can stick magnetically to the seats and change themes along with the car.The SU7 is only available in mainland China, where it sells from RMB 219,900. That's $32,000 US. The Max model might stretch the budget, coming in at RMB 303,900, or $44,000 US.
