The upcoming vehicle is scheduled for a commercial rollout in the second half of 2026. Certified regulatory listings from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology exposed the physical dimensions and core technical parameters. The sedan features a fastback profile riding on a 2,820 mm wheelbase to expand cabin space. Its physical footprint measures 4,806 mm in length, 1,500 mm in height, and offers widths of either 1,868 mm or 1,895 mm, depending on the trim level. Semi-hidden door handles and a charging port located on the passenger-side front fender define its exterior architecture. Powertrain and battery The vehicle utilises a single-motor configuration supplied by Hunan CRRC Times Electric. Multi-motor setups are absent from this regulatory filing, though two distinct output tiers are indicated. The lower-spec variant delivers a peak output of 113 kW and a rated power of 57 kW, reaching a maximum speed of 166 km/h. High-performance iterations elevate peak power to 145 kW with a 62 kW rated output, raising the maximum velocity to 172 km/h. Both configurations integrate lithium-ion chemistry supplied by domestic cell manufacturer Calb. The final battery pack assembly is handled directly by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture facility. Chassis and specifications Depending on the selected powertrain tier, the curb weight ranges from 1,557 kg to 1,628 kg. Mechanical stopping power relies on an anti-lock braking system provided by BWI Group under the MK C2 designator. The front wheel track measures 1,625 mm, while the rear wheel track narrows slightly to 1,620 mm. The vehicle offers distinct wheel options spanning 17-inch and 18-inch dimensions paired with 215/55 R17 or 215/50 R18 tyres. Optional hardware features listed in the regulatory catalogue include direct or indirect tyre pressure monitoring networks. Consumers can also configure the sedan with a panoramic sunroof, a shark-fin antenna, and side-fender cameras. Market and strategy This clean-sheet design follows previous brand strategy directives aimed at capturing budget-conscious electric car buyers. Volkswagen’s Jetta brand previously revealed its intentions to enter the 102,041 yuan (15,000 USD) market segment to establish its entry-level electrification path. The entry of the M6 sedan directly expands this product lineup to combat established domestic manufacturer rivalries. The localised electric expansion arrives as the parent group faces structural sales pressure across the Chinese retail market. According to China EV DataTracker, Volkswagen’s domestic wholesale sales reached 102,840 units in June 2026, up 5.5% month on month but down 41.4% year on year. This newly leaked battery asset aims to reverse these volume contractions by solidifying market share through localised supply networks. Regulatory disclosures reveal engineering metrics for the first fully electric sedan to bear the Jetta badge.
