It will rival the Xpeng Mona M03 and the MG 07 as Volkswagen aims to boost its NEV market share in China. Jetta is an independent brand under the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. It was founded back in 2019, focusing on producing petrol-powered cars exclusively for China. However, the local market’s ICE share has seemingly shrunk in recent years, resulting in Jetta’s domestic sales decline. According to China EV DataTracker, Jetta delivered 47,811 vehicles (ICE) in H1 2026, down 13.1% Year-Over-Year. As a result, Jetta started to sell its cars globally. At the same time, this young brand announced a transition into the new energy vehicle segment with four new electric models to enter the Chinese market shortly. The Jetta M6 will become the brand’s first BEV. The Jetta M6 The Jetta M6 is a mid-size sedan with a sleek roofline, sharp headlights, and a continuous taillight unit. It rides on 18-inch wheels. Other highlights of its exterior include semi-hidden door handles, an active air intake in the front bumper, and a large sunroof. Official images show the top-trim car finished in purple. It boasts a surround-view camera system and front & rear parking sensors. It is 26 mm longer than the Xpeng Mona M03 sedan. It is clear that the Jetta M6 aims at the same market segment. It is worth noting that the state-owned automaker SAIC has recently begun pre-sales of the MG 07 sedan, which is also aimed at the Mona M03. So, the competition in the BEV sedan market segment is rapidly intensifying in China. The Jetta M6 comes standard with a single electric motor for 113 kW (152 hp). The car’s top speed is limited to 166 km/h. A more powerful variant adopts a 145 kW (194 hp) e-motor. Its top speed reaches 172 km/h.
