Restored 1952 Ford F-2 Pickup Heads to Auction With Flathead V8 and Modern Upgrades on Bring a TrailerA heavily customized 1952 Ford F-2 pickup is drawing attention ahead of a no-reserve auction in the United States, showcasing a blend of vintage Ford styling and modern mechanical upgrades. The truck currently carries a $15,000 bid with five days remaining in the sale.Originally assembled at Ford’s Long Beach, California, plant, the pickup left the factory powered by a 239-cubic-inch flathead V8 engine. After being acquired by its current owner in 2013, the truck underwent a comprehensive restoration and modification project that was completed in 2017.The build included replacing a previously installed 350ci V8 with a rebuilt 239ci flathead sourced from Flathead City in Oregon. The engine features a relieved 8RT block, SCAT crankshaft and connecting rods, Ross forged pistons and an aftermarket camshaft. Performance upgrades also include Offenhauser cylinder heads, a matching intake manifold, dual Stromberg 97 carburetors and coated Fenton headers connected to a dual stainless-steel exhaust system with Smithy’s glasspacks.AdvertisementAdvertisementPower is delivered through a five-speed manual transmission sourced from a Chevrolet S-10 and paired with a Ford 9-inch rear axle.The truck’s suspension was extensively modernized during the restoration. The front end now uses a Mustang II-style setup equipped with disc brakes, tubular control arms and power rack-and-pinion steering. A four-link rear suspension with adjustable coilovers was also added.Finished in two-tone paint by Kandy Shop Creations of Mesa, Arizona, the exterior was reworked with replacement bumpers, glass and seals. The bed features quarter-sawn oak planking, while the tailgate operates through a hidden cable system. The fuel tank was relocated beneath the bed during the build.Inside, the pickup received distressed leather upholstery, German square-weave carpeting, Vintage Air climate control and a retro-style Bluetooth-capable audio system with speakers and a subwoofer. Matching retro-look gauges were added to a dashboard refinished to complement the exterior paint.
