In 2023, the company acquired Enel Romania, a Romanian operator of charging infrastructure that was previously part of the Italian Enel Group. The recently announced expansion is backed by EU funding of up to €3.42 million. This investment is supported through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). It is part of the ‘Extended Electric Route Eastern Europe – BlueRoute 4E’ project, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Europe and support the decarbonisation of transport across the trans-European transport network (TEN-T).Under the PPC blue brand, 106 charging points will be installed across 34 locations in both countries. All sites will be located no more than three kilometres from a TEN-T motorway exit. With an average of 3.1 charging points per site, most locations will feature a single charging station with two charging points, while some will have two stations with four charging points. Specifically, there will be 98 charging points with at least 150 kW for electric cars and eight charging points with at least 350 kW for electric heavy-duty transport.“Building on the successful implementation of the CEFfunded project East Europe Electric Route (Blue Route 3E), PPC blue is advancing to the next phase of its strategy with the launch of the Blue Route 4E programme in Greece and Romania accelerating the transition to electric mobility and connecting Eastern Europe to the European alternative fuels infrastructure network,” said Miltiadis Babilis, Chief E-Mobility Officer of the PPC Group. “As a natural step in the development of charging infrastructure, Blue Route 4E involves the deployment of strategically located high‑power charging stations for LDVs & HDVs. Through close collaboration between Greece and Romania, PPC Group reaffirms its commitment to enhancing green mobility and supporting Europe’s transition towards a climate‑neutral transport system.”Andreea-Dana Popescu, Managing Director of PPC blue Romania, added: “The implementation of the project involves complex construction works, the installation of the stations and their connection to the electrical networks, but beyond the technical component, the stakes are much broader: we are building a robust, reliable and future-proof network that meets the growing expectations of our customers.”romania-insider.com, romaniajournal.ro
