Gasgoo Munich- On April 7, autonomous driving company Pony.ai officially began Robotaxi passenger operations in Singapore in partnership with ComfortDelGro. The service is now available in the Punggol district, where riders can experience driverless mobility solutions jointly deployed by the two companies.Image source: Pony.aiThe Singapore rollout marks a key milestone in Pony.ai's "dual-engine" growth strategy, which targets simultaneous expansion in both domestic and international markets. During its 2025 earnings briefing, the company outlined plans to deploy more than 3,000 Robotaxis across over 20 cities worldwide this year, with nearly half located outside China.By working closely with local partners and regulators, Pony.ai is shifting its overseas operations from pilot programs toward scaled commercial deployment, aiming to bring its autonomous mobility services to a broader global user base. The initial service operates in northeastern Singapore, covering a 12-kilometer route that connects the Punggol Northshore and Waterway Sunrise residential zones. The route has been designed around daily mobility needs, linking key destinations such as Oasis Terraces, Punggol Plaza, One Punggol, and Punggol Coast Mall. These stops span retail, entertainment, and public service hubs, enabling passengers to complete everyday trips conveniently via autonomous transport. The Robotaxi route is integrated with Singapore's public transit network, offering direct connections to multiple MRT and bus stations in Punggol and helping address last-mile commuting challenges. A full journey along the route takes approximately 55 minutes, reducing travel time by up to 15 minutes compared with existing public transport options.Selected residents in the Punggol area have already been invited to trial the service, providing feedback to refine operations ahead of a broader public rollout.Pony.ai first entered the Singapore market in September 2025 through a strategic partnership with ComfortDelGro, the country's largest transport operator. The launch of a live service route in Punggol signals a transition from testing to real-world deployment, injecting new momentum into local mobility innovation.Prior to this, the two companies had collaborated on autonomous mobility pilots in Guangzhou, leveraging that experience to support their Singapore rollout. The initiative aligns closely with Singapore's broader push to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity through next-generation transport solutions.Pony.ai has already validated the unit economics of its Robotaxi business in major Chinese cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, where it has achieved per-vehicle profitability at an urban scale. This has been driven by its integrated advantages in purpose-built Robotaxi vehicles, Level 4 autonomous driving technology, and operational systems.Building on this foundation, the company is exporting its proven model to international markets under a "China plus overseas" strategy. By partnering with local operators to co-deploy fleets, Pony.ai aims to scale more efficiently abroad while sustaining long-term growth momentum.
