Here, you'll find the ten outright best-selling SUVs. Sure, we could have gone by segment, but then all of us would be here all day. Simply put, the SUV segment is absolutely massive, ranging from crossover SUVs all the way to full-size behemoths like the Ford Explorer and Cadillac Escalade. They're more popular than ever, too. In order to illustrate that effect, here's a factoid: the entire compact truck segment in the US totaled 175,000 or so trucks. That's still almost 10,000 vehicles less than the tenth-best-selling SUV on this list:10. Kia Sportage: 182,823 If the new Sportage is anything, it's stylish. Recently reinvented for the 2026 model year, the Sportage managed a strong showing this year, cracking the top 10. New looks mean revised headlights and cool amber running lights. Meanwhile, a 12.3-inch screen comes standard in the lineup, paired with a similarly sized digital dash. Tech is at the forefront here, with adaptive cruise control and front and rear parking sensors included.9. Subaru Crosstrek: 191,724 The Crosstrek's personality is Outside. If that sounds like you, then perhaps you're one of the 190,00+ people who bought one this year. The arguments are easy: standard all-wheel drive and respectable fuel economy, paired with a decent interior and an off-road-ready model, make the Crosstrek one of the more appealing crossovers out there. Its small trunk is a bit of a drawback compared to segment rivals, and so is its sluggish center screen. But if you need off-road capability in a small package, this is a solid choice.8. Chevrolet Trax: 206,339 The Trax is, in a lot of ways, the opposite of the above Subaru. Front-drive only and focused solely on offering an easy time on your wallet, the Trax is by far more popular. However, you'll be putting up with a lackluster powertrain and a cheap interior as trade-offs. Good standard tech helps offset this a bit, as does the SUV's sub-$25K starting price.7. Jeep Grand Cherokee: 210,082 2026 brings a new four-cylinder-powered model into the mix alongside some mild exterior styling tweaks and a 12.3-inch screen. The rest of the Grand Cherokee formula is unchanged. You can tow plenty, Jeep offers a litany of driver aids, and there's much more off-road capability than most other full-size entrants. However, you'll be putting up with some interior materials that don't quite feel worth the price point.6. Nissan Rogue: 217,896 Speaking of value, the Rogue packs it in: it's spacious, comfy, and offers solid fuel economy. More than that, it offers the requisite off-road-ish trim and, for the first time, a plug-in version. The Rogue may just be Nissan's best car, thanks to the new changes, but beware of a sluggish transmission and some more road noise than normal.5. Ford Explorer: 222,706 The quintessential big SUV, Ford's Explorer, continued to sell well in 2025. In fact, it's the best-selling full-size model in 2025. We favor it because of the Explorer's powerful engines and its solid tech, which is further bolstered by the new Tremor model, targeting that oh-so-important off-road market with bigger tires and fancy software. We're a little mad that BlueCruise is paywalled and not part of the regular options list, however.4. Hyundai Tucson: 234,230 The Goldilocks fable rings true for the Tucson. It's the middle child in the brand's SUV lineup, and also the most popular. The hybrid version returns solid fuel economy, and the recent refresh means the Tucson's tech feels relevant. However, make sure to avoid the slow base engine. Otherwise, you're left with a good-sized SUV with a great ride, tons of standard features, and some comfy seats.3. Chevrolet Equinox: 332,301* Chevy puts up the Equinox's sales figures in conjunction with those of the EV, hence the asterisk. This aside, there's a few reasons the crossover is the third-best-seller on this list. For one, the seating arrangement is roomy even for tall adults, and the modern displays are a big upgrade over the old model. However, you'll want to turn elsewhere for a hybrid model, as Chevy opts to offer the solid Equinox EV instead. That features solid range and many of the same perks and drawbacks of the gas model, including the slightly stiff ride.2. Honda CR-V: 403,768 It's hard to get more popular than the CR-V, though one automaker manages to. The CR-V offers an attractive blend of affordability, comfort, and practicality. There's also an available hybrid trim, which nets around 40 MPG. The 2026 hybrid benefits from a new off-road-focused TrailSport model intended to up the model's attractiveness to the outdoorsy types.1. Toyota RAV4: 479,288 The RAV4 is the small SUV. At this rate, it always will be. Once again a best-seller, it takes the cake for 2025. That was no doubt in part due to the model's latest iteration, which arrived last year. The 2026 RAV4 brings new looks, updated tech, and the requisite hybrid and off-road trims to an SUV that had gotten, if we're frank, desperately outdated. A few drawbacks remain, like some lumpy seats, but the RAV4 is still a best-seller for a reason.
