Positioned as a high-end off-road NEV SUV, the vehicle is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2026. Design and DimensionsThe First Edition features an exclusive “Flowing Silver” matte finish with nano-ceramic varnish, staying true to the Concept 97 design language. The vehicle measures 5118 (or 5185) mm in length, 2050 mm in width, and 1898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3040 mm. It adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat layout and supports an optional towing hitch with a capacity of 2000 kg. Intelligence and PerformanceThe Freelander 8 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip, offering performance leaps over the 8295, including 3x CPU, 3x GPU, and 12x NPU power improvements. It comes standard with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS system and a 896-line LiDAR. The powertrain utilises a range-extended hybrid system featuring Chery’s SQRH4J15 1.5T engine, producing 115 kW (154 hp). It is equipped with a 60.331 kWh battery developed in partnership with CATL, providing a pure electric range of 221 km. For off-roading, the vehicle includes the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, front mechanical differential locks, rear e-LSD, and closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension. As the first fruit of the “Joint Venture 3.0” model, the brand plans to launch six models over the next five years, targeting China, the Middle East, and Europe. Priced in the 300,000 yuan 44,100 USD segment, it will compete with models like the Li Auto L8 and Aito M7. Meanwhile, the internal combustion engine (ICE) Range Rover Evoque is being sold at prices lower than those of used models in the Chinese market. While the official guide price for the Range Rover Evoque is 429,800 yuan (63,200 USD), aggressive inventory clearance by dealerships has led to drastic price cuts. The 2026 Range Rover Evoque L SE model can now be purchased with a minimum down payment for a base price of 179,000 yuan (26,300 USD), with a full-payment price of 185,000 yuan (27,200 USD). The total on-road price for both methods sits at approximately 212,000 yuan (31,200 USD). Conversely, the used car market has yet to adjust. Three-year-old models with 20,000 to 30,000 km of mileage are typically priced between 158,000 yuan (23,200 USD) and 178,000 yuan (26,200 USD). Some “near-new” zero-mileage vehicles are even listed at 198,000 yuan (29,100 USD). The official photos published by Chery-JLR.
