Gasgoo Munich-Chery Group released its August sales data on September 1. The group sold 280,128 vehicles last month, a 15.4% year-on-year increase. Exports rose 52.1% to 196,984 units, while new energy vehicle (NEV) sales increased 69.8% to 120,909 — marking the fifth consecutive month of exceeding 100,000 units.Image Credit: CheryFor the first eight months of the year, cumulative sales reached 1,914,481 vehicles, up 10.8%. Exports rose 68.1% to 1,343,334 units, while NEV sales totaled 725,214 — a 46.2% increase. By the end of August, Chery’s global user base exceeded 20,440,000, including over 7,180,000 overseas customers, making it the first Chinese automaker to export more than 7,000,000 vehicles.Hong Kong-listed Chery Automobile (9973.HK) reported sales of 262,990 units in August, a 14% increase. Its cumulative sales for the January-August period stood at 1,799,942, up 10.8%.On the model front, the Fulwin T7 secured over 23,000 orders within 24 hours of launch. The Sterra 8 opened pre-orders on August 14 and exceeded 10,000 orders in 48 hours, with a global debut set for September 3. Luxeed V9 cumulative deliveries reached 20,000 units, while the all-new QQ exceeded 10,000 in monthly sales for the fifth consecutive month.At the Chengdu Auto Show in late August, Chery showcased 41 models across its portfolio, including the Chery, EXEED, JETOUR, JAECOO, iCAR, and Luxeed brands. The Arrizo 7 and iCAR V25 made their global debuts at the event.On the export front, Chery shipped nearly 70,000 NEVs in August — a 124.2% increase. Data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) shows Chery ranked among the top two in cumulative NEV exports from January to July. Sales across 24 European countries exceeded 208,000 units in the first seven months, up 201%, with NEVs accounting for over 101,000 units — an increase of more than 3.3 times.Separately, Chery’s Moja robotics division exceeded 2,000 cumulative global deliveries in July. At the World Robot Conference in August, the Mobo, a home-companion humanoid robot, made its public debut. Moja robots are the first humanoid products in China to achieve dual EU certification for hardware and software, having entered over 60 countries and regions.
