After two decades, the Ducati Hypermotard V2 is updated in a big way. Shown at the EICMA motorcycle show inn Italy, the Hypermotard V2 sees its biggest change in the V-twin engine, with a new 890 cc unit that is six kilograms lighter than the previous Testastretta 11° 937 cc mill. This is the same twin used in the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2, Multistrada V2 and Monster, and produces 120 hp at 10,750 rpm with 94 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. Of note is the disappearance of the Desmodromic valve actuation system in Ducati’s liquid-cooled engines. This now allows for valve clearance intervals to be set at 45,000 km, while oilchages are now scheduled for every 15,000 kmmm or two years, whichever comes first. Styling wise, the Hypermotard V2 takes inspiration From the original Hypermotard 1100. This can be seen in the headlight and tail lights, as well as the twin exhausts nestled under the tail unit. A monocoque structure holds the engine and front end, while rear bodywork is mounted to a trellis sub-frame. This places the rider in an aggressive forward riding position, indicating the Hypermotard V2 is a true motard motorcycle. For the electronics suite, the Hypermotard V2 comes with four ride modes – Race, Sport, Road and the limited to 95 hp Rain mode. The ride modes can be adjusted to a variety of permutations, while the ABS is able to set to one of four levels of intervention. Coming as standard equipment is a Ducati Quickshifter 2.0 while the six-axis IMU gives Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC). Ducati Power Launch (DPL) is only available in the Hypermotard V2 SP model variant. The Hypermotard V2 Sp is further set apart from the standard model Hypermotard V2 with the addition of Ohlins suspension, NIX 30 forks fully-adjustable forks in front and STX 36 fully-adjustable monoshock in the rear, and lighter 17-inch forged wheels. The standard Hypermotard V2 gets Kayaba front suspension and rear monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound while a Sachs steering damper is standard fitment for both versions. With all the changes, the 2026 Hypermotard V2 weighs in at 180 kg for the standard and 177 kg for the SP version, 13 kg lighter than the pervious Hypermotard 950. 12.5-litres of fuel is carried in the tank while seat height is set at 880 mm.
