Previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow in May, the Jetour T2 is set to make another appearance at the paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) this weekend, November 8 and 9, at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). This time, however, the rugged SUV will be showcased in right-hand drive for the first time. Its debut will coincide with the opening of “early” booking, the Chery Holding-owned carmaker said, adding that the T2’s estimated pricing will also be revealed at the event. The company had teased the car’s arrival two weeks ago. For the uninitiated, the T2 is a mid-sized SUV with boxy styling very much akin to the Ford Bronco, with square headlights, a large grille, an upright glasshouse, a sideways opening tailgate and an “external spare tyre” (actually a large storage box). Despite the looks, the car is actually a unibody rather than a body-on-frame vehicle, available with either front- or all-wheel drive. Engine options include a brace of Chery-derived mills, including the O5‘s 1.5 litre turbo four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Tiggo 8 Pro‘s 2.0 litre unit with either the DCT or an eight-speed automatic, or a plug-in hybrid version that couples a 1.5 litre turbo four-pot with a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and two electric motors. The most likely candidate is the 2.0 litre engine and seven-speed DCT combo shown at the Malaysia Autoshow, producing 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque. Inside, the T2 is very much in keeping with Chinese 4×4-esque SUV form, with a bluff dashboard, lots of chunky silvery trim and Allen bolt heads, an oblong-shaped steering wheel and large screens consisting of a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch touchscreen. Expect the T2 to arrive in CKD locally assembled form, coming from the Berjaya Assembly plant in Johor. If you want to check out the Jetour T2 in person, ACE 2025 will take place on November 8 to 9 from 9am to 7pm at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). Entrance is free.
