Shown at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy is the Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype. While supercharging and turbocharging is not new for motorcycles, the V3R 900 Compressor features an electronically controlled compressor. The engine at the heart of the V3R 900 is a 75-degree V-three, first shown at the 2024 EICMA show. Electronically controlled, the compressor delivers high torque numbers at low engine speeds, with precise control of engine boost. According to Honda, this lets the V3R 900 perform at the equivalent power level of a 1,200 cc motorcycle engine. The added benefit of electronically controlled supercharging is the lowered emissions and increased combustion efficiency. The V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype combines the latest technology with Honda’s motorcycle development knowhow across decades, aiming to deliver dual characteristics of “promised thrills” and “reassuring peace of mind.” This stems from Honda’s concept of the “Non-Rail Roller Coaster,” aiming to deliver the joy of riding as outlined in Honda’s Vision 2030. The V3R 900 features Honda’s new flagship ‘Wing’ design, which will be displayed prominently on the Hamamatsu firm’s flagship motorcycle models beginning in 2026. Expect to see future Honda motorcycles coming with some sort of forced induction going forward as emissions regulations worldwide are made more restrictive.
