The headquarters in Liverpool will cover R&D, engineering and business development for CCV, with operations due to start in 2026. On January 29, Liverpool City Council announced that Chery Commercial Vehicles (CCV) of China will establish its European headquarters in Liverpool, marking the company’s first headquarters project in Europe. According to information released by the city council, the European headquarters is scheduled to begin operations in 2026 and is expected to create more than 50 jobs in its initial phase. The new headquarters will serve as the central hub for Chery Commercial Vehicles’ European operations, covering research, engineering, innovation and business development functions. Chery said Liverpool’s well-developed port infrastructure, comprehensive transport links and established automotive industry base were key factors behind the site selection. Liverpool port Local authorities view the project as another tangible example of China–UK cooperation in new energy vehicles and advanced manufacturing, with the potential to add new growth drivers to the city’s industrial structure. Chery Commercial Vehicles General Manager Gong Yueqiong said the company does not intend to simply export products to the UK, but aims to build a localized business with independent operating capabilities, recruiting local talent and working with UK institutions to better align with market demand. Chery’s UK expansion began in 2024, with sub-brands such as Omoda and Jaecoo covering internal combustion, hybrid and battery electric models, and rapidly establishing a dealer network of more than 70 outlets. From a broader business perspective, Chery Commercial Vehicles has maintained rapid growth in recent years. In 2025, monthly heavy-duty truck sales exceeded 1,000 units, making it one of the faster-growing players in the segment. Its mini-truck sales have remained among the leaders in the segment, light truck rankings climbed seven places. The Rely pickup recorded cumulative sales of more than 10,000 units within three months of launch. New businesses such as autonomous logistics have also entered commercial operation. Chery’s Rely R08 pickup Under its long-term targets, Chery Commercial Vehicles aims to reach annual sales of 1 million units by 2030, positioning itself as a leading global commercial vehicle brand. To support this goal, the company plans to roll out a new generation of new energy platforms between 2026 and 2029, covering heavy-duty trucks, light and medium trucks, mini trucks, vans and buses, enabling a comprehensive platform-level upgrade across its product lines.
