Gasgoo Munich- BYD has hit a major milestone in Thailand, with cumulative new-energy vehicle deliveries topping 130,000 units. The milestone coincides with the second anniversary of the automaker's Rayong plant in the WHA Industrial Park, which also marked the official launch of the new BYD SEALION 5 DM-i.Image Source: BYDThe facility represents BYD's first overseas passenger vehicle production base, designed with an annual capacity of 150,000 units. It now produces five models locally—the BYD DOLPHIN, BYD ATTO 3, BYD SEAL 5 DM-i, BYD SEALION 5 DM-i, and BYD SEALION 6 DM-i. All five have secured the "Made in Thailand" (MiT) certification from the Federation of Thai Industries.Over the past two years, BYD has deepened its localization efforts in Thailand with tangible results. The plant has created more than 5,000 jobs, with Thai nationals making up roughly 93% of the workforce. Local parts sourcing has reached 50%. These figures signal that BYD is deeply integrated into the country's automotive supply chain, effectively driving local industrial growth.At the event, BYD handed over the keys to its 130,000th new-energy vehicle in Thailand—a BYD SEALION 5 DM-i. The company also revealed the pre-sale price for the Standard version, a move set to further expand its DM-i product lineup.
