The Sealion 08 was previously shown at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show and had already appeared in earlier leaks. The latest filing adds detailed powertrain and range information, including a CLTC-rated maximum range of 900 km for the battery electric version. Flagship Ocean SUV The Sealion 08 measures 5,115 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with a 3,030 mm wheelbase. Five-seat and six-seat layouts will be available. The exterior continues the Ocean series styling language previewed by the Ocean S concept. The SUV adopts split headlights, wave-shaped daytime running lights, flush-style door handles, a full-width rear light bar, and roof-mounted lidar hardware for the God’s Eye 5.0 driver assistance system. According to the filing, both the battery electric and plug-in hybrid versions share the same exterior design. BYD Sealion 08 adopts second-generation Blade Battery and DiSus-A suspension. Up to 643 hp and 900 km range The battery-electric Sealion 08 will be offered in three powertrain configurations. Single-motor variants produce either 320 kW or 370 kW. The dual-motor version combines a 215 kW front motor with a 370 kW rear motor for a total output of 585 kW, equivalent to 643 hp. BYD stated the EV version can reach up to 900 km under CLTC testing conditions. The model also adopts BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, CTB battery-body integration technology, rear-wheel steering, and DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension with road preview capability. Options available for the Sealion 08. Flash-charging PHEV variant The plug-in hybrid version uses BYD’s fifth-generation DM system with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 115 kW. Single-motor and dual-motor variants are planned. The dual-motor version uses front and rear electric motors rated at 200 kW each. The filing shows WLTC pure electric range figures of 275 km and 300 km, depending on configuration. BYD also stated the plug-in hybrid variant can achieve up to 400 km CLTC electric-only range. IT Home described the Sealion 08 as BYD’s first flash-charging plug-in hybrid SUV. The model recorded 336 units in December 2025 and 1,587 units in June 2025.
