The i6 vehicles experiencing battery failures are all equipped with power batteries supplied by CATL. Recently, multiple Li Auto i6 owners have reported battery failures on social platforms. One owner stated that their Li Auto i6, purchased only 58 days prior, suddenly lost power while driving without any prior warning signals. Subsequently, automobile sales service shop personnel were unable to identify the specific cause during troubleshooting. Such incidents are not isolated. Another i6 owner, who had the vehicle for just three months, reported receiving a sudden call from Li Auto. The company informed them that abnormal battery conditions had been detected and offered to replace the battery with a new one. After sharing this experience on social media, many i6 owners in the comments section responded that they had similarly received official inspection notices from Li Auto. Based on feedback from car owners, the i6 vehicles experiencing battery failures are all equipped with power batteries supplied by CATL. As of now, neither Li Auto nor CATL has issued an official response or proposed a solution regarding this issue. Multiple Li Auto i6 owners have reported vehicle battery failures. The controversy surrounding Li Auto’s battery failures is not an isolated incident. As early as October 2025, a 2024 Li Auto MEGA in Shanghai suddenly caught fire and exploded during normal operation, ultimately being burned down to its frame. Following this, Li Auto initiated an investigation into the cause. The results indicated that within the same production batch as the incident vehicle, the coolant’s anti-corrosion performance was insufficient. Under specific conditions, this could lead to corrosion and leakage in the cooling aluminum plates within the cooling circuit for the power battery and front motor controller. This situation could cause warning lights to illuminate, result in limited power or inability to start, and in extreme cases, lead to thermal runaway of the power battery, posing a safety hazard. It is worth noting that the recalled MEGA vehicles were equipped with the Kirin battery, co-developed by CATL and Li Auto, with the battery cells also produced by CATL. Li Auto recalled 11,411 units of the 2024 MEGA models. Consequently, Li Auto proactively filed for a recall of 11,411 MEGA vehicles. The recalled vehicles included 2024 Li Auto MEGA models produced between February 18, 2024, and December 27, 2024. During Li Auto’s Q3 2025 earnings call, the company disclosed that the recall of the MEGA model resulted in an estimated cost of approximately 1.112 billion RMB. Sales were also impacted by the recall, with MEGA deliveries dropping to fewer than 1,000 units in both November and December 2025. Li auto 2025 sales by model Looking at Li Auto’s 2025 sales structure, the L series remained the brand’s sales pillar, while the i series continued to show steady growth in pursuit. As the best-selling model in the pure electric lineup, the Li Auto i6 achieved three consecutive months of sales growth following its launch on September 26, 2025. It recorded a total of 28,567 deliveries in its first full quarter of availability. It is worth noting that with the steady increase in orders, Li Auto has officially adopted a dual-supplier model for the i6, sourcing batteries from both CATL and Sunwoda to address production ramp-up challenges. The company stated that by early 2026, the monthly production capacity for the i6 is expected to increase to 20,000 units, aiming to further accelerate deliveries.
