Currently, WeRide has deployed more than 200 Robotaxis in the Middle East region. On February 6, WeRide and Uber announced an upgrade to their strategic partnership: the two parties plan to deploy at least 1,200 Robotaxis in the Middle East by 2027, covering three major markets: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh. According to the plan, all 1,200 Robotaxis will be integrated into the Uber App to provide public transportation services. Currently, WeRide and Uber have already launched fully driverless commercial Robotaxi operations in Abu Dhabi and opened public Robotaxi services in Dubai and Riyadh. Building on this existing operational foundation, both sides will continue to expand the Robotaxi fleet. Uber has committed to investing more Robotaxis after obtaining key regulatory approvals and achieving operational milestones, including the commercial deployment of fully driverless Robotaxis in the core areas of each city. The deepening of this strategic partnership marks the acceleration of WeRide and Uber’s previously established plan to “deploy Robotaxi services in 15 additional international cities over the next five years.” Currently, Robotaxi services have been launched in 3 cities, with the remaining 12 cities to be covered by 2030. The Robotaxi expansion plan follows WeRide’s light-asset operational model, with Uber or local third-party partners responsible for fleet operations, while WeRide provides autonomous driving technology support and large-scale fleet deployment capabilities. At this stage, WeRide has already deployed over 200 Robotaxis in the Middle East. WeRide’s Robotaxi GXR at Jumeirah Mosque in Dubai Official data shows that in Abu Dhabi, WeRide’s fully driverless Robotaxi service completes dozens of trips per vehicle daily. With the fleet expanding to 1,200 vehicles, WeRide will further solidify its absolute leading position in the Middle East’s Robotaxi market. It is worth noting that WeRide’s Middle East subsidiary achieved operational profitability in its Robotaxi business in 2025. WeRide CEO Han Xu stated that the expanded collaboration between WeRide and Uber represents the largest commercial Robotaxi deployment plan in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to date. Moving forward, the company will accelerate its expansion efforts, working toward the goal of deploying tens of thousands of Robotaxis globally over the next five years.
