Volkswagen practically started the van-turned-camper trend decades ago. Now, with its first van back on the market for the first time in decades, Volkswagen reintroduces its retro-inspired ID.Buzz with a new Tourer trim built for camping.VWPreviously, Volkswagen had decided to skip the 2026 model year for the Buzz. Frankly, it made us concerned that the van was going to end up dead shortly thereafter. Given the plummet in EV demand since the discontinuation of federal subsidies, it's not hard to see how Volkswagen could have justified killing the model.Despite that, the van is back, carrying a host of updates for 2027. The big one is the Tourer trim, which adds tons of camping-focused features as standard. That includes a fold-out mattress, window shades, and ventilation panels for the front side windows. An exterior table and chairs are included, as is a new Overnight mode, which enables the use of the climate control to maintain a steady temperature while you sleep. VW says this will work for up to 48 hours, so presumably, the system will also keep the interior at a comfortable temperature whenever you'd likeVWView the 2 images of this gallery on the original articleAdvertisementAdvertisementEvery ID.Buzz gets the brand's latest infotainment software, sporting a new navigation interface and some retouched UI to make navigating a bit easier. A new app store also brings apps like YouTube and Spotify into the fold. All Buzz models will get a new NACS-to-CCS adapter, granting access to Tesla's Supercharger network. A new Pro S 4Motion trim level also adds all-wheel drive to the van at a more affordable price. We're not sure what that price is, though, as that has yet to be announced.
