Faraday Future has had a tumultuous start as an automaker. It went through a four-year federal investigation into allegations of false and misleading statements made amid the automaker's plan to become a publicly traded company. The Securities and Exchange Commission ended the probe without imposing sanctions against Faraday Future in 2026.Now, the company is facing another hurdle because it's delaying the launch of the FX Super One luxury minivan. Faraday Future says the postponed introduction is to implement an 800-volt electric architecture rather than the previously planned 400-volt system. In addition, the company is working on a powertrain that it calls an "AI hybrid extended range (AIHER)" that would add a combustion engine for charging the batteries while on the go. Here's What's Changing For The FX Super One Faraday FutureBy switching to an 800-volt electric architecture, instead of the previously planned 400-volt system, the FX Super One would be able to charge faster and have a longer range. Faraday Future also believes the change would make the minivan more competitive because 800-volt tech is rapidly becoming the norm in high-end EVs.The company is still being vague about its AI hybrid extended range system. It says: "The world's first AI-driven extended-range plus hybrid fusion technology featuring a 'strong extended-range, light hybrid' architecture, AIHER is expected to overcome the weaknesses of conventional hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems." In an earlier announcement, the company said the unit would be a gasoline-fueled, turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four. Here's What The FX Super One Is Promising Beyond its powertrain, the Faraday Future FX Super One promises to offer high-tech living on wheels. An AI-powered F.A.C.E. display replaces the traditional grille and can show a variety of messages and animations. The interior would also feature a variety of AI-integrated technologies that would be able to predict driver preferences.A deployable widescreen display would provide a huge entertainment screen for the folks in the second and third rows. Buyers would be able to select between a super-spacious four-passenger interior configuration or a more traditional six-occupant layout. A seven-passenger model with a bench in the second row is also a possibility.Faraday Future allegedly secured more than 10,000 pre-orders after unveiling the FX Super One in 2025. The base price for the model would reportedly start well below $100,000. Here's Why None Of This May Never Actually Happen Faraday FutureThe delayed launch of the FX Super One seems at least partially to be a financial issue. Based on Faraday Future's recent announcement, completing the minivan project seems to be contingent on getting more investment in the company. There's a delivery timeline for the FX Super One's arrival, but it begins "Once the necessary funding is in place..." according to the announcement. The 800-volt electric version could begin the first phase of deliveries within six to nine months. The model with the range extender could reach that milestone in nine to twelve months. But it all appears contingent on funds, which apparently haven't been secured just yet."Subject to securing financing from strategic or medium-to-long-term investors and sufficient to support mass-production deliveries, the Company will fully launch FX Super One mass-production vehicle deliveries. Until then, the Company will proceed prudently in a manner that minimizes cost and investment, prioritizes safety, and maximizes stockholder value."- Faraday FutureFaraday Future FX Super One Interior 4Source: Faraday Future
