This could be the jumping-off point for the three Genesis models we want to see most. The CarBuzz spies have just snapped the facelifted Genesis G90 sedan on the road in the US. The makeover will bring the full-sized sedan right up-to-the-minute. We hope it will also bring a coupe, convertible, and the Wingback wagon to dealer lots. Completely New Face For Big Sedan CarBuzz/Valnet Covering a black car with a black cloth wrap does an excellent job of hiding the changes to the new big sedan, but Genesis will have to get up earlier than that to put one over on us. The changes will start with a new face. The headlights are more upright than they are on the current G90 sedan. Genesis is also making its Superman grille surround shorter to fit a new lower grille underneath. That lower grille is a big change. On the current car, the main grille surround goes almost all the way to the bottom of the car. On this one, it appears to be just half as high. The chrome and mesh change the look significantly, and we can see more chrome surrounding large vents on the corners as well. One other key detail on the nose is that the fabric covering it opens up. Normally, the nose camo would be all one piece. This one can be uncovered to show the grille, and that could mean something very interesting. Genesis likes to put its charge ports in the grille, so you can just nose up to a charge station.Does that mean this is an electric G90? It's not confirmed, but it is suspicious. An EREV is also possible, but putting the charge port in front of the gas engine's radiator probably wouldn't be the best move by Genesis engineers. New Sedan Could Get Concept Car Cabin CarBuzz/Valnet Heavy covers block our view of the cabin, but having the covers in there is telling. Expect some big changes to the G90's dashboard, but they won't be the same changes to a bezel-free dash and center screen offered on the G80.Our spies suggest it could have an interior like the one you'll find in the Genesis X Gran Equator concept. That model used a series of large round dials rather than screens. It's an interesting look if Genesis can pull it off, but we're not sure how it would work for anyone trying to use the infotainment system. Especially with Apple CarPlay.CarBuzz/Valnet Yesterday at the New York International Auto Show, Hyundai boss Jose Muñoz announced that the luxury brand was launching 22 new models here by 2030. Since that could essentially double the brand's lineup in the US, it has us wondering what models could be in store. This refreshed G90 sedan, likely to arrive next year, will be one of them. The GV90 SUV will also be on the list. But could some new G90 variants make the grade? The amazing design team at Genesis has been teasing us with some incredible concept cars for years now. Among those are the massive G90-based X Gran Coupe and the related X Gran Convertible, which could be more than a match for the now-departed Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe. The G90 Wingback, a station wagon based on the G90, is also on our wish list, and Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke has said that each one is "very executable" if Genesis decides to proceed.Genesis G90 Facelift Spy (15)
