Mazda Will Give the Miata a Pretty New Paint ColorMazda (Mazda)The 2027 Mazda MX-5 Miata will be available with a new paint color called Zinc Green Metallic.Mazda has long dabbled with green paint, from the eye-popping Mazda 2 to the iconic 787b race car's livery, as well as each Miata generation. The current ND generation is the latest Miata to get the newest green hue, but we're still waiting for Mazda to release pricing for the 2027 lineup.Every generation of the beloved Mazda Miata has been offered with a green paint job. So it's about time that the pint-sized sports car's current ND generation gets the same treatment. While the new Zinc Green Metallic color blurs the line between gray and green, it's really pretty nonetheless, and it'll be available on the 2027 Mazda MX-5 Miata. When Mazda revealed the new green color, the Japanese automaker recalled its long history with the shade. Do you remember the original three-wheeled Mazda Go? Of course you don't, but apparently it had a green instrument panel that inspired a body color that could be had on its successor. Flash forward 60 years, when Mazda included a green color on the livery worn by the 787b race car that won the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans. And who could forget the eye-catching Spirited Green Metallic that was available on the Mazda 2 hatchback sold in the 2000s.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe new Zinc Green color made its global debut yesterday at the world's largest Miata meet-up, which was held in Karuizawa, Japan. Mazda says it was designed to look similar to the Polymetal Gray Metallic that's already offered across its lineup. While Zinc Green appears grayish in low-lighting situations, Mazda says the color has a "vibrant and rich" look in direct sunlight. We'll have to wait until we see the color in person to verify that claim, but we do know that it'll be available on the Miata sold in the United States sometime after the 2026 model year.➡️ Skip the lot.
