MazdaMost drivers have muttered a few choice words after getting cut off in traffic. Now, one new electric SUV can say them out loud. The Mazda CX-6e comes with a feature that lets drivers broadcast messages to people outside the vehicle — including ones with strong language — according to a report the Australian news site news.com.au published on Wednesday, September 30.The feature, called "External Announcement," uses a speaker mounted in the front of the car as a megaphone so pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists can clearly hear the driver, per the report. The system comes with prerecorded messages in a digitized voice, including "hey buddy, I'm here" and "please look up and focus on the road, stay safe," the outlet reported.MazdaDrivers can also type their own announcements into the car's 26.45-inch touchscreen and save them as shortcuts. When the outlet tested the system, it couldn't find a limit to what the car would say – curse words and all.For U.S. drivers intrigued by the feature, there's one catch: The CX-6e is built in China by Changan and is not sold in the United States, according to Road & Track. The speaker isn't the SUV's only selling point. According to Mazda's website, the CX-6e's GT grade delivers up to 484 kilometers (about 300 miles) of range on a single charge, based on WLTP testing. It also runs on 190kW (about 255 horsepower) of rear-wheel-drive electric power, with regenerative braking that recharges the battery as the car slows down or travels downhill.MazdaRoad rage is more common than many people realize. In an AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety study, 96 percent of drivers said they drove aggressively or engaged in road rage behavior at least once in the prior year. With numbers like that, handing drivers a built-in loudspeaker could turn a minor annoyance into a heated confrontation. For now, a quick toot of the horn may still be the safer way to get another driver's attention.Read More From First for AutosGeneral Motors Hit With Class-Action Lawsuit Over Transmission Defects in 4 Popular VehiclesHonda Accord Owner's Claims Were Denied for 3 Years – Then the Dealer Quoted Her a $5K RepairDealership Tells Driver He Needs New Brakes, Mechanic Looks and Disagrees: 'Happens All the Time'This story New Mazda CX-6e Can Swear at Other Drivers for You With Built-In External Speaker first appeared on First for Autos.
