Genesis GV90 to Debut in August: ExecGenesisGenesis is apparently gearing up for the reveal of its new flagship SUV, the GV90. And according to a new report from British publication CAR citing one of the Korean automaker's executives, the debut of this large crossover is right around the corner, too.Genesis Europe's managing director Peter Kronschnabl told CAR that this new GV90 will be revealed in August, which in automotive industry terms, would seem to foreshadow a Monterey Car Week-timed launch. He also revealed that the production GV90 would be fitted with reverse-opening rear doors, now politely referred to as "coach doors.""The only other brand with coach doors is Rolls-Royce," Kronschnabl sais. "It will be a real [unique selling proposition]."GenesisThe idea of giving its flagship SUV coach doors stems from the Genesis Neolun Concept (above), which debuted in 2024. That concept featured reverse-openong doors and a living room-like purple interior. And while the inside of the Neolun looks a little spacey, the exterior design is one we'd expect to inspire the production vehicle.AdvertisementAdvertisementKronschnabl added that the GV90 "shows what the brand can do when it comes to luxury" and called it "another dimension of premium." Considering the GV90 will presumably be on the same level as the flagship G90 sedan, we expect Genesis to throw everything it has and more at this SUV.Like the Neolun, the GV90 is expected to launch as an EV, most likely borrowing some tech from the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9. Adding an internal combustion powered variant would almost certainly help sales here in the U.S., but there's no mention of such a model in CAR's report. As to when it will reach the streets, an earlier report from KBB suggested GV90 production would begin in September at the Ulsan plant in South Korea. The same report from the start of July claimed Genesis was undergoing final checks and preparations for the flagship SUV ahead of its debut. (Road & Track has reached out to Genesis to see if we could learn anything more about the new flagship product ahead of its impending reveal, and will update this post if we hear back.)You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
