This vehicle will enter the Chinese market this year, reaching overseas regions in 2027. It is a capable off-roader with a fluid-coupled dual-motor rear axle. The Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 is also known in China as Zhanjian 700. It is a mass-produced variant of the Galaxy Cruiser concept car revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025. The Cruiser 700 is the first off-road SUV from the Geely Galaxy brand. It features blocky styling and a significant ground clearance. This car was recently spotted in China during road tests after it had been previewed as the Land Rover Defender rival. The Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 Geely Galaxy officially announced that the Cruiser 700 off-road SUV will adopt a plug-in hybrid system with a combined peak power output of 830 kW. It is 1,113 hp or 1,129 ps. The brand’s officials underlined that this SUV’s power-to-weight ratio reaches 392 ps (288 kW) per ton. It means the Galaxy Cruiser 700 will have a curb weight of around 2,880 kg. The Geely’s off-roader is relatively light. For clarity, the Jetour G700 plug-in hybrid SUV from Chery boasts a massive curb weight of 3,063 kg and a power-to-weight ratio of 217 kW per ton. And the YangWang U8 from BYD offers a curb weight of 3,590 kg and 245 kW of power per ton. So, the Galaxy Cruiser 700 is quite competitive in terms of the power-to-weight ratio. The Geeky Galaxy Cruiser 700 It was previously revealed that the Cruiser 700 will adopt a petrol-powered ICE and three electric motors. Two e-motors will sit in the rear axle. Their drive shafts will be linked via a fluid-coupled locking mechanism positioned between them. When one wheel loses traction with the road, the viscous resistance of the fluid transmits part of the available torque across the coupling. On paper, Geely solved the issue of most of the multi-motor off-roaders, which is the inability to transfer torque between wheels. So, the Galaxy Cruiser 700 could actually be capable in harsh conditions. The Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 also has a LiDAR sensor on the roof, hinting that it adopts at least the G-ASD G-Pilot H5 assisted driving system, suitable for the Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) function on urban roads and highways. The Galaxy Cruiser 700 will offer a self-developed dynamic control system, capable of passing the 80km/h moose test. The car will automatically switch between FWD, RWD, and AWD modes. Other features include crab-walking, U-turn, tire blowout driving modes, and continuous automatic obstacle avoidance. It has a wading depth of 800mm and satellite communication capabilities. According to China EV DataTracker, Geely Galaxy delivered 71,553 cars domestically in May 2026, down 9.8% Year-Over-Year. The brand’s models are being sold under the Geely brand in foreign regions. Geely’s global EV (BEV+PHEV) sales reached 133,355 units in May 2025.
