This technical suite comprises the GTA (Geely Terrain Architecture) vehicle architecture, the Thor EM-T powertrain and the AI all-terrain digital chassis. The Geely Zhanjian 700 (Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700) will be the first model to implement these technologies. ArchitectureThe GTA architecture utilises a hybrid approach, combining a unibody construction with an integrated frame to create a 6-horizontal, 7-vertical, 8-ring integrated cage body skeleton. According to Geely, this structure reduces weight by 100 kg compared to traditional decoupled frames and achieves a vehicle torsional rigidity exceeding 40,000 N·m/deg. This design optimises vertical chassis space, allowing for a completely flat door sill and floor, resulting in an interior space efficiency (effective floor area) of 80.3%. In terms of capability, the vehicle features an unladen ground clearance of 233mm, a battery pack ground clearance of 313mm, and a roof load capacity of 16 tons. Powertrain and performanceThe Geely EM-T hybrid powertrain employs a triple-motor four-wheel-drive layout. It is powered by a 2.0T off-road dedicated engine, a three-speed DHT electric drive, a P3 motor on the front axle, and dual P4 motors on the rear axle. The system delivers a combined power output of 830 kW (1,113 hp). For extreme terrain, the hardware includes two electronically controlled soft locks and a mechanical hard lock on the rear axle, the electronic system enables millisecond-level torque adjustment, while the mechanical lock completes engagement within 200 milliseconds. The electric drive housing is crafted from magnesium alloy and features a fully active dual-cooling loop to prevent overheating during prolonged off-road use. Intelligence and chassis controlThe AI all-terrain digital chassis is powered by the GVMC 3.0 vehicle control centre and the EEA 4.0 electronic electrical architecture. It supports an active hydraulic suspension system capable of scanning road conditions 30m ahead to pre-adjust the suspension. The chassis supports multiple off-road mode switches, achieving a turning diameter of 3.36m. Additionally, the electric drive system is rated IPX8 for water resistance, providing emergency floating and escape capabilities, alongside stability control during tyre blowouts at speeds up to 140km/h. SafetyThe passenger cabin skeleton utilises high-strength and hot-formed steel, complemented by a hidden roll cage made of multiple thermal expansion pipes. The vehicle uses an off-road reinforced “Aegis” battery system, featuring multi-layer physical protection and a polyurea bullet-resistant bottom plate, ensuring the frame absorbs initial impact to protect the battery cells. In extreme water conditions, the vehicle can activate a “Floating Mode,” utilising sonar sensing and a rear thruster for underwater movement. Other premium features include low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication, dual-mode cabin oxygen generation, and multi-level digital safety redundancy. The Geely Zhanjian’s dimensions are 5085mm (length) x 1999mm (width) x 1912mm (height), with a wheelbase of 2900mm. It features a square body and a full-size rear-mounted spare tyre with a decorative cover. Pricing and the official market launch date for it have not yet been disclosed.
