According to the brand’s officials, the new car will “define the next generation of vehicle visuals.” CEO of Freelander and Executive VP of the CJLR joint venture Wen Fei shared that the Freelander 8 range-extended SUV will adopt a cinematic-style Human-Machine Interface (HMI). Its core feature is the world’s largest surround-view gallery design concept. It is combined with a “Freelander Continent” theme. It reportedly offers natural integration of day and night. The Freelander 8’s infotainment system Users can control a center lock, a sunroof shade, a tailgate, and an electrically powered charging port cover via screen. There is also quick access to music controls, AI functions, and widgets. They include interior modes like rest mode, cinema mode, camping mode, animal mode, children mode, and immersive acoustic systems. Other functions include fragrance settings and fog lights. Moreover, users can activate seat massage, zero-gravity modes, and one-click folding down the third-row seats. It was previously revealed that the Freelander 8 is equipped with a large 46.3-inch screen on the dashboard. It boasts a width of 1.2 meters. Other features of this screen are 8K resolution and 1,000 nits of brightness. Another feature is a floating touchscreen. This infotainment system is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip. The Freelander 8’s infotainment system The Freelander 8 is a full-size boxy SUV with dimensions of 5118/2050/1898 mm with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. It adopts six seats with a 2+2+2 layout. Another fine feature of this model is a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg. It has a Huawei-made 896-line LiDAR sensor on the roof as a part of the Huawei ADS 4.1 assisted driving system. The Freelander 8 adopts the 800V high-voltage system. It has a 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE under the hood with a peak power output of 115 kW (154 hp). This engine sends power to the CATL-made ternary NMC battery for 60.33 kWh, suitable for 221 km of WLTC electric range. There is currently no information about the Freelander 8’s electric motors. Accroding to China EV DataTracker, Land Rover delivered 3,283 CJLR-assembled vehicles in China in June 2026, up 228.3% Year-Over-Year.
