Previous spy shots confirmed the development of the NV200’s second generation, and latest sightings show the final designs of the van’s exterior and interior. The NV200 will launch in China with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. Zhengzhou Nissan is a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group and acts as the commercial vehicle arm of the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture (JV). Its latest offerings include the Nissan Frontier Pro, an NEV and ICE pickup truck based on the Dongfeng Z9. The new NV200 at a Zhengzhou Nissan event. Source: Van You Yin Li, Yi Liang Previous leaks hinted that the next-gen van would take a new direction, with Zhengzhou Nissan positioning the new NV200 as a “mild off-road PHEV MPV”. This may be an attempt to capture the burgeoning “vanlife” market in China. Exterior While previous spy shots showed the NV200 under heavy camouflage, the latest images show the van in near showroom condition. It features Nissan’s newest NEV design language, with a dual-layer enclosed front grille and flat tri-spoke wheels. It gets a boxy shape, not unlike the first NV200. The front of the new NV200. Sliding doors are present on both sides of the van. Nissan has chosen traditional door handle designs, in line with other entry-level commercial and passenger vans in China. Other NEV touches include a centre-mounted infotainment screen and a steering column-mounted shifter stalk. The centre console appears to have physical climate control buttons. A hole in the centre console (above the AC buttons) hints at a mechanical shifter, used by potential ICE powertrains with manual and auto transmissions. Potential Specs & Pricing Chinese sources have confirmed that the new NV200 will feature a PHEV powertrain. Nissan currently offers the N6 sedan in PHEV form, pairing a 75 kW (101 hp) 1.5-litre engine with a 155 kW (208 hp) motor. The N6 achieves a CLTC EV range of 180 km from a 21.1 kWh LFP battery. This system may also appear in the NV200 in a de-rated form, since the current N6 sedan and the previous NV200 are both FWD vehicles. Both models also feature front McPherson struts and rear torsion bar suspension, and the new NV200 is not expected to deviate from this. While it’s positioned as a “mild off-road MPV”, AWD is not expected on the new NV200. The first-gen NV200 was built and sold in China from 2010 to 2018. Marketed under the Zhengzhou Nissan brand, it launched with a retail price of 79,800-127,800 yuan (11,700-18,800 USD). It measured 4,400 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, 1,847 mm in height, and had a wheelbase of 2,725 mm. The new NV200 is expected to be priced similarly to the first-gen van, with base-trim ICE powertrains to lower its entry price. Chinese sources claim it will also be offered with a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.2-litre ePower hybrid, though CarNewsChina cannot confirm this. The new NV200 may also be exported abroad, as Nissan has terminated all production of the first-gen NV200 in Japan. Source: Nissan, Weibo – Van You Yin Li, Sugar Design, Yi Liang
