The model integrates a dedicated ladder-frame chassis with plug-in hybrid mechanical systems designed for the global mid-size truck market. Chery scheduled the commencement of international pre-sales and export deployment for the final quarter of 2026, reports Autohome. This vehicle disclosure follows the market deployment of the Chery Rely R08 Pro commercial lineup earlier this year. Concurrently, domestic volume sales for Chery reached 31,738 units in May 2026, up 4.0 per cent month-on-month, according to China EV DataTracker. Powertrain and battery The utility model utilises a series-parallel plug-in hybrid architecture, featuring a 2.5-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 210 kW (282 hp) and 650 Nm of torque. This internal combustion configuration achieves a recorded thermal efficiency of 47 percent. The system links to a rear-mounted battery pack designed to provide a pure-electric operating range of 170 km. Engineers paired the electrified powertrain with a mechanical low-range transfer case and three independent locking differentials positioned at the front, centre, and rear axles. A separate internal combustion engine variant will also enter production to satisfy alternative regional procurement budgets. Structurally, the vehicle delivers a rated cargo payload of 1,000 kg and a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity. Design and utility The vehicle measures 5,450 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,925 mm in height based on the regulatory platform parameters. The exterior styling features a wide horizontal grille cluster anchored by circular LED headlight units and box-flared fenders. The four-door double-cab structure sits on the proprietary Kaitan Architecture, featuring a cargo bed raised above the frame to minimise intrusion into the inner wheel arches. Interior equipment includes a suspended dual-screen infotainment display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an electronic gear selector. The cabin architecture also integrates passenger amenities, including a panoramic sunroof, heated seats, and automated climate control. Global market strategy This product deployment addresses expanding manufacturer entries, specifically targeting the Great Wall Motor Cannon series. It also positions Chery alongside upcoming competition as the BYD pickup continues testing ahead of its domestic market debut. Western legacy manufacturers have identified these new plug-in hybrid platforms, such as the BYD Shark series, as highly distinct vehicle architectures compared to traditional combustion offerings. The Stockman will target ocean export buyers first, following a period in which Chinese pickup exports exceeded 50 percent of segment output. The upcoming Chery Stockman mid-size pickup truck features a diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain setup.
