On April 8 local time, Chery officially inaugurated its European Operations Center in Barcelona, Spain, alongside the establishment of its Spain R&D Institute. This marks Chery’s first overseas regional operational hub, signaling a shift in its European strategy from pure sales to a more comprehensive localized operating system. It oversees core functions including operational management, compliance and risk control, supply chain coordination, finance, and public affairs, providing structural support for expansion across European markets. The Spain R&D Institute will focus on electrification, intelligent mobility, and sustainable technologies, while aligning with stringent EU requirements in data security, environmental standards, and regulatory compliance, supporting localized product development and adaptation. Chery’s European Operations Center in Barcelona, Spain Driven by continued investment, Chery has shown strong growth momentum in Europe. According to official data, the company has entered 18 European markets, serving more than 100,000 users. Data shows that in January–February, Chery sold 39,000 vehicles in the UK and EU markets, up 200% year-on-year. Among them, new energy vehicle exports reached 11,500 units, up 250%, making Europe its core overseas NEV market. At the brand level, Omoda and Jaecoo have delivered strong performance. Since entering the Spanish market in 2024, the two brands have recorded cumulative sales exceeding 40,000 units, ranking among the top 10 in local private sales channels, with new energy vehicles accounting for more than 80%. Chery’s strategy in Europe goes beyond simple trade exports, focusing instead on deep localization. In 2024, Chery partnered with EV Motors to revive the historic Spanish brand EBRO, reactivating an idle factory in Barcelona and creating more than 1,000 local jobs. To date, Chery Group has accumulated over 19 million global users, including 6.23 million overseas users, with operations spanning more than 130 countries and regions. The group has ranked first in passenger vehicle exports among Chinese brands for 23 consecutive years and is the first Chinese automaker to surpass cumulative exports of 6 million units.
