Lu Tian, general manager of BYD’s Dynasty line, released the first official images of the BYD Great Han on Monday, offering an early look at the automaker’s next flagship sedan. Positioned above the Han lineup, Great Han becomes the first D-segment flagship sedan under BYD’s Dynasty series. The model marks BYD’s latest push into China’s premium sedan market following the success of the Han family. BYD Great Han, officially released by BYD. The official images still show a heavily camouflaged vehicle. However, previously leaked prototype photos have already revealed most of the exterior and cabin details. From available images, Great Han retains the Dynasty family’s “Dragon Face” design language. The front fascia adopts an integrated headlamp setup, paired with a full-width decorative trim element linking both sides. The front bumper receives a new treatment, giving the vehicle a more formal appearance. Great Han light-camouflage spy photos leaked by media. Viewed from the side, the sedan features a long wheelbase, low-slung stance, and fastback-style roofline. Multi-spoke wheels are fitted, while the door-handle design mirrors that of the recently unveiled Great Tang SUV. At the rear, Great Han largely preserves the rounded proportions of the Han. BYD’s signature “Chinese Knot” taillight remains, though with simplified graphics aimed at a cleaner visual effect. Great Han rear photo leaked by media. Inside, the cabin closely follows the Great Tang’s design direction. The dashboard adopts an embedded instrument display, paired with a large central touchscreen. A three-spoke steering wheel is fitted, while gear selection moves to a column-mounted shifter. Great Han interior photo leaked by media. The model will offer both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid variants. Both versions are expected to feature BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery technology, alongside the company’s latest ultra-fast charging system. Two high-spec EV variants equipped with LiDAR are planned. The dual-motor flagship version offers a CLTC-rated range of 880 km. A rear-wheel-drive premium variant extends CLTC range to 1,008 km. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is visible in official imagery. The vehicle is expected to adopt BYD’s God’s Eye B advanced driver-assistance platform. Industry observers also expect Great Han to use BYD’s recently announced Xuanji A3 autonomous-driving chip architecture. BYD Great Han, officially released by BYD. The launch carries strategic importance for BYD. The Han series has been one of BYD’s most successful products since its 2020 debut, with cumulative deliveries surpassing 1 million units. At its peak, monthly sales exceeded 30,000 vehicles. Momentum, however, weakened sharply in 2026. Between January and April, monthly Han-family sales failed to surpass 4,000 units. Han L, launched last year, was expected to support the lineup’s recovery; market performance fell short of expectations. Attention is also turning to Great Tang, another flagship model under the Dynasty family. The SUV is expected to launch this month. BYD previously disclosed that pre-orders had already reached 100K units. BYD Great Tang According to the company’s roadmap, Great Han will enter the market in the third quarter of this year. Together with Great Tang, the model will form the core of BYD’s flagship “Dynasty Nine-Series” portfolio, strengthening the brand’s presence in China’s premium vehicle segment.
