BYD’s 2025 overseas market sales reached 965,691 units, with pure electric and hybrid models accounting for 59% and 41% respectively. Recently, BYD Auto announced that its sales in the Vietnamese market have officially surpassed 5,000 units. BYD formally entered the Vietnamese market in June 2024, with first-year sales of only 485 units. Entering its first full sales year in 2025, annual sales jumped to 3,718 units, representing a year-on-year growth of over 66%, achieving the milestone of cumulative deliveries exceeding 5,000 units. Currently, BYD has launched nine models in the Vietnamese market, including the Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3, covering multiple segments such as compact sedans and SUVs. BYD Surpasses 5,000 Vehicle Deliveries in Vietnam In addition to sales growth, BYD is actively advancing its industrial chain layout locally. It is reported that in January of this year, Vietnamese automaker Kim Long Motor announced a partnership with BYD to jointly build a $130 million electric vehicle battery factory in central Vietnam. According to the agreement, Kim Long Motor will be responsible for the factory construction funds, while BYD will provide comprehensive technical and process support. The factory will be constructed in two phases, with Phase I having an annual capacity of 3 GWh and Phase II expanding to 6 GWh. It will primarily supply the new energy commercial vehicle market and serve regional markets. This move propels BYD’s strategic upgrade in Vietnam from “complete vehicle export” to “localized production.” Beyond the Vietnamese market, BYD’s 2025 global strategy showed breakthroughs in multiple areas. Data shows that BYD’s overseas market sales reached 965,691 units in 2025. Among these, pure electric and hybrid models accounted for 59% and 41%, respectively. From an overall market perspective, BYD’s success is not reliant on a single blockbuster model but rather on precisely deploying vehicles according to local market preferences, covering a multi-segment, multi-powertrain matrix. The best-selling model was the BYD Song Plus, ranking first with 244,000 units, followed by the Seagull (191,000 units) and the Seal 07 EV (100,000 units). The “2025 Top 10 BYD Export Models” list shows that European markets, represented by Belgium, the UK, and Germany, prefer mid-to-high-end models like the Song PLUS and Seal 07 EV; whereas economical compact cars like the Seagull, Yuan UP, and Dolphin are more popular in Thailand and Indonesia. 2025 Top 10 BYD Export Models Building on the impressive results of 2025, BYD has revealed that its overseas sales target for 2026 is set at 1.3 million units, which is nearly 25% higher than the target of over 1.04 million units for 2025. To support this goal, BYD is accelerating its global production capacity layout. Currently, BYD’s Thailand factory maintains an annual capacity of 150,000 units; factories in Uzbekistan and Brazil have been completed and put into operation. Furthermore, the Hungary factory, with an expected annual capacity of 150,000 units, is set to officially begin production in the second quarter of 2026, and the $1 billion Indonesia factory is also expected to commence operations in the first quarter of this year. It is projected that by the end of 2026, BYD’s total overseas production capacity will reach 800,000 to 1 million vehicles.
