BYD’s mobility-focused Linghui brand officially launched its flagship business MPV, the Linghui M9, on June 29. The new model is offered in two variants: the 1105 Luxury Edition and the 1105 Premium Edition, priced at RMB 188,800 ($27,770) and RMB 199,800 ($29,400), respectively. Linghui M9 pricing A higher-spec 1163 DiSus Flagship Edition equipped with BYD’s DiSus intelligent body control system will be introduced at a later date. Unlike BYD’s Dynasty, Ocean and Denza brands, which primarily target retail consumers, Linghui has operated as an independent brand since its debut in February, focusing on ride-hailing operators, taxi fleets and corporate customers. BYD created the standalone Linghui brand to serve the large-scale mobility market while avoiding the impact that high-volume commercial fleet sales could have on the brand positioning of its consumer-focused Dynasty, Ocean and Denza lineups. According to previously disclosed regulatory filings, the Linghui M9 is built on the same platform as the BYD Xia MPV. It measures approximately 5,200 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,045 mm, and adopts a seven-seat configuration. Linghui M9 size The powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid engine with a 36.6-kWh Blade Battery. It offers a CLTC pure-electric driving range of 145 km and a combined driving range of up to 1,105 km with a full battery and full fuel tank. The M9 also follows BYD’s modular technology strategy. It is built on the company’s e-Platform 3.0, fifth-generation DM hybrid technology and integrated eight-in-one electric drive platform. BYD said future variants will gradually introduce additional technologies, including the God’s Eye intelligent driving assistance system, the DiSus body control system and a wide-temperature heat pump air-conditioning system, depending on trim level. Linghui M9 interior view The M9 is Linghui’s first MPV and the brand’s third strategic model, following the all-electric Linghui e7 and Linghui e9 sedans. The brand’s first model, the Linghui e7, was launched in mid-April with a starting price of RMB 95,800 ($14,079), while the Linghui e9 entered the market on May 9, starting from RMB 150,800 ($22,163). For BYD, Linghui is intended less as a volume driver than as a vehicle for further market segmentation. Linghui e9 By using an independent brand to target ride-hailing fleets, taxi operators and corporate procurement, BYD can pursue large commercial orders while allowing its Dynasty, Ocean and Denza brands to remain focused on private consumers with more clearly differentiated market positioning. With the launch of the M9, Linghui has now established two core product lines, covering all-electric sedans and plug-in hybrid MPVs.
